Posts that don't fit into any other category. If it's anything to do with guns, it probably doesn't belong here!

not wanting to take the credit away from them, just wanted to point out to the newer members that penpusher, grumpy and mehul used to be mods here. they spent valuable time here esp penpusher for legal issues, grumpy for shotguns and mehul for rifles.
I for one would have been poorer without their contributions.

So where's the beer then ?
Development and knowledge sharing is the issue. Common benefit of all.
Simply being a moderator is of no use. A moderator needs to give time to the forum daily. Not like me when I visit IFG when I feel like dont visit for a full two weeks if I am busy with other things.
For that matter I am a moderator on another gun site and I own a forum for off roaders in Dubai which takes up a lot of my time.

The IFG chief gives us valuable suggestions to run my websites and forums as well.

Shahid, I beg to add the responsibility aspect too, along with the time that our Mods put in. There is a level of tolerance, ethical limit, understanding and other such criteria that they have, with good balanced, displayed over time. As Admin of another forum and Mod on yet another, I am sure what you mean bears good weight :)

.. Right on... A lot of information is shared, a lot of tips proposed.. and a whole lot more... all leading to an extravaganza of exposure and awareness, which is the basic deficit of this country.

Why I mention this is that, when we think of the so so many issues in our great country ... it leads to a simple thought, discussed thus:
Sometimes, over a beer when I discuss such topics with friends, I ask them if they know the basics of the procedure of registering a complaint with the cops, or any detail of the fundamental rights for citizens.. and what I mostly get is blanked stares and worn out looks. One of the major problem of the system, that I notice, is that there is no proper information exchange and awareness of rules/procedures/process/etc, which leads to those sitting in admin positions being capable of taking the moderate civilian for a ride in any direction. My simple question is that if we all really know the road rules, obey it, and break none, what are the chances of some one having to catch us to fine us? If that happens, who will give bribes when they are right in every way.. and against whom shall we complain of 'taking bribes'. In the reverse logic, it is us who make way for people to get corrupt by not wearing a helmet, and knowing fully well that it is a crime, and one note will temporarily make the uniform pose in the other direction :)

Having said thus, and digressing like always, we beg to need mods because we digress, break rules on and off, and somehow know of an elastic limit that we so often stretch to breakage ;)

While we are at it, may I dare interrupt the mutual back thumping ;) to propose a toast to those unknown and unseen visitors to IFG who have been bumping up our viewership over the past couple of years!

After all, our measly membership numbers cannot account for the 4.5 million plus page views in a bit over 2 years (not hits those are wayyy wayyy more)... so to that silent majority that has been visiting us, and hopefully been befitting from the knowledge being disseminated by our membership, and maybe... just maybe... those additional arms licenses that have been successfully processed thanks to the info being given out by our membership - THREE CHEERS!! :)

Cheers!
