THE SHOOTER'S BIBLE
THE SHOOTER'S BIBLE
The ten commandments, set forth here,
Was written in our time.
We merely rearranged the text,
And put them into rhyme.
The first commandment, clearly states,
To each and every one.
"Give any firearm respect,
You would a loaded gun."
Without a doubt, the second rule,
Outranks the rest by far.
"You only carry empty guns,
Into your camp or car."
The third commandment, takes effect,
Whenever shooting's done.
"You always check,that naught obstructs,
The barrel of your gun."
The fourth one states, "you must control,
The muzzle of your gun,
If, when toting it you stumble,
Fall over things or run."
The fifth commandment, tells you how
To keep your conscience eased,
"Make sure of what you're shooting at,
Before the trigger's squeezed."
The sixth commandment, then relates,
This message, if you will.
"You never aim at anything,
You do not want to kill."
Commandment seven, tells you how,
To keep from being cursed.
"You never leave a gun alone,
That's not unloaded first."
The eighth commandment, teaches us,
That we may reap our fun.
"You never climb a fence or tree,
And pack a loaded gun."
The lesson, number nine reveals,
Is vital in its way.
"You never shoot at flat hard ground,
Or water, so to say."
The tenth commandment, states a fact,
No sportsman, can refuse,
The powder that goes in your gun,
Cannot be mixed with booze."
