GSmith Pellets - Informal Review
Hi Guys!
I recieved this lot of GSmith pellets and thought I'd see how it fares in my IHP35.
All the pellets have a relatively tight fit, with the Domed ones having the tightest fit. The pointed ones come next and the hollow points the last.
The pellets are huge when compared to the local ones, and very heavy. However the lead is softer. I believe the weights are very close if not equal to Beeman Kodiaks. I remember seeing a therad where someone had weighed them. I'll try coaxing a local jeweller into doing it for this lot.
As for grouping, I could test only at 10 yards and the results were good. The domed ones had the tightest grouping of the lot and the pointed ones the worst in groups of 5 pellets. All of them however were <1" at 10 yards.
I also shot at a piece of tile at 10 yards to look at the splat pattern. Here's the outcome:
If somebody is good at splatology, lemme know what the velocities should be for the pellet to flower out similarly.
I will add pictures comparing size with the local pellets, tonight.
I tried out the hollow points at a coke can at 40 yards last night. Took three shots, all three hit the can, but the group was something like 2". This is wholly due to my error and I believe your groups will be much better than this.
I'm still using the original Mainspring and Washer from IHP. Gunmark claims a remarkable improvement if you use their Mainspring and Washer. I did order a couple of them. But will install them once this spring wears out.
Update: Size Comparison and Grouping Info.
From Left: GSmith High Speed, Diana Shot Pointed, GSmith High Impact, Diana Shot Round Head. Notice the huge difference in size. The Diana Shot pointed has a sharper profile.
Grouping: 10 shots @ 10 yards, Seated.
GSmith High Split (The grouping is not bad. This was the first test and I played around with the sights.
GSmith High Impact
Gsmith High Speed
The High Impacts have the best grouping so far in all situations.
Since I'm posting pictures of grouping, I thought I'll put up this pic too. These are Diana Shot WadCutters. The quality is really good and so is the grouping.
Hope it helps!

hi mo,
good work on the pellets.
if u were referring to who the person was who done the weight checks on the gsmith pellets then it was me and i had done that with a jewellery shop, but pls go ahead and post the weights of your batch of pellets.
as i had posted earlier the domes were the best in my gunmark rifle and grouped well.

Hi Sanjiv!
Thanks bro. These pellets are really heavy! Gunmark said that the heaviest will be 18 grains, but I feel your figures are more apt. However he mentioned that these are the new and improved lot and supposedly perform better than the previous versions. He said that the plant was dormant for a while and this is the new batch. Dont know how that'll affect the weights though!
Yeah, the domes do turn out better in terms of grouping. Hows the range with the Gunmark using these pellets?
Also, I did not order any Flat Noses. Hows the fit for them? Same and tight?

GSmith Flat Nose/Wadcutters are really good.Very consistent and you'd hardly find flattened/out of shape ones unless they were damaged in transport.I've used it with a Feinwerkbau and a Theoben and they work well. Perhaps the best Indian made pellets I've used.

Re: GSmith Pellets - Informal Review
dont know on other rifles but on the gunmark only the real tight fit ones are the high split ones, though i love them for the reason that they make a perfect circular shape on impact.
the flat ones offer the highest fps since they are the lightest of the gsmith slugs.and here i am talking about the .22s and not the p10 wadcutters for match.

nb-i have some video on shooting the gunmark rifle on a spinner at 42 mts and the deformation of domed and high split slugs, just need some stay in pune,my hometown, to render the video to a compatible format and resolution to share thru youtube.

Re: GSmith Pellets - Informal Review
Yes I was referring to .177 cuz thats what I mostly shoot.
The pellets fit snugly in both rifles. About the weight, I think I'll visit my neighborhood Goldsmith , what say Sanjiv ?

Does any shop in NCR stock the Gsmith pellets? Whats the TAT if you order them via VPP?

@snIPer: You can place the order via mail on [email protected]. Give a call on 020-24472502/03 to confirm. Ask for Prasad, he does not BS and waste your time.
They offer VPP. I didnt opt for that though. I went for courier and wired the money to him online. VPP guys come and leave unannounced AFAIK.
There's no minimum quantity AFAIK. I ordered 8 tins of 200, a spring and a seal. Its a pain to get him to send it promptly. So order a good quantity that you wont have to go through it again for a while.
@yash3_great: I'm sure there must be. There's no specific TAT. Its directly proportional to the number of calls you make though.
