Probably wasting my time because you seemed to have convinced yourself that the 52 is the way to go. The only way to get that bug out of your system is for you to buy one and then shoot the Weihrauchs. Ask Inder.
You have already touched upon the two things that make me dislike the 52 - the side cocking lever and the trigger.
I prefer to hold onto the lever when loading a pellet into the breech and this is awkward to say the least with the 52. Anti-beartrap devices, like safeties, are all well and good but I do not trust them. Afterall, it's a mechanical device and could fail at any given moment.
Trigger release, to me, is the most important consideration when buying a gun. Shoot similar rifles with a badly adjusted trigger and one that has been carefully set up and you will see the light.
If power (muzzle energy) is your thing, then have a look at the HW80K. Power should be a secondary concern. Without accuracy (triggers have a bearing on this) it means nothing.
I find the 77k, 97k and 80k (in that order) to be ergonomically better than the 52. However, this is a subjective matter.
Weihrauchs open sights are definitely superior to anything that Diana can offer. Needless to say, this too has a bearing on accuracy.
Fit and finish is almost similar, with the Weihrauchs having a very slight edge. However, I consider the Weihrauchs to be better engineered.
