Re: .22 caliber
Yes...one needs to have license .
As per the order , application is to be done before DM.
Things are yet not clear.
Better go for a .177.

Technically yes, but it is still not being implemented on the ground, the local authorities are awaiting further clarifications from the Ministry of Home Affairs.
I'd agree with Basu's advice, best to stick to .177 calibre, till things become clear.

Re: .22 caliber
Muzzle energy restrictions are hugely problematic in a country like India. It would be most practical to follow the example of Austria and allow everything below .25 calibre and license the rest. Easy to understand/ implement and will cause the least amount of harassment/ damage to the sport while limiting access to what are TRULY high power air-rifles.

Defiantly the best practical solution, if MHA babus are looking for practical control over H P Airguns,
God Give them some sense,
I have few old imports of Diana and HW100 in .22, just to make sure to be under 20 joules had to import Caldwell Chrono,
real pain to carry with Lithium battery

Yesterday I called assistant commissioner office in kerala. And asked the same but they are not aware of needed a licence for .22 cal ar. Minutes later they called me and said yes u need, but still they haven't got a application yet.
Wht is the procedure for applying one ?
How is cost for the procedure?
.22 cal are pellets will be available in future?
Cause it's already in limit in sites
