Yes...one needs to have license .
As per the order , application is to be done before DM.
Things are yet not clear.
Better go for a .177.

Technically yes, but it is still not being implemented on the ground, the local authorities are awaiting further clarifications from the Ministry of Home Affairs.

I'd agree with Basu's advice, best to stick to .177 calibre, till things become clear.

Can't they just Limit muzzle energy at 20 joules or 15 ft lb, regardless of Caliber specific !!!

just my thought

Muzzle energy restrictions are hugely problematic in a country like India. It would be most practical to follow the example of Austria and allow everything below .25 calibre and license the rest. Easy to understand/ implement and will cause the least amount of harassment/ damage to the sport while limiting access to what are TRULY high power air-rifles.

:agree:
Defiantly the best practical solution, if MHA babus are looking for practical control over H P Airguns,
God Give them some sense,

I have few old imports of Diana and HW100 in .22, just to make sure to be under 20 joules had to import Caldwell Chrono,
real pain to carry with Lithium battery
