12 gauge semi auto licence
Hello respected IFG's members...
I want to know that can a civilian get a hold of 12 gauge semi auto.
Is 12 gauge semi auto is NPB. Is there any semi autos in india if yes ,
How much old are they and of which firearm company's manufactured them
And what price range to be expected if there are any,and at how much price dealer will ask from
A buyer.. And a little detail on quality of 12 gauge semiauto, maintenance, any jamming problems,or any other problems.
Please give brief detail about this topic i am sure senior members have good knowlegde about it...
Thanks everyone....
Sorry for my ugly english .

To the best of my knowledge, PB. The Arms Rules-1962 specify a semi-automatic smooth bored gun with a barrel length less than 29" as a prohibited arm. You will have difficulty in convincing the licensing authorities otherwise even if your gun has a 30" barrel.
Possible that some are registered as single barrel repeaters. But, that does not make them NPB.

Ashok, in the case of a semi-auto, the barrel length should not be less than 29". That is what the Arms Rules-1962 say.

Ashok,
Thank you for that. I checked other government sources of the same document. The one I posted the link to had barrel length as 29". And after reading the act from a couple of those sources, this what is it means (I think )
1. Semi-auto firearms other than pistols are prohibited.
2. Shotguns with barrel length less than 20" are prohibited.
Best-
Vikram

Re: 12 gauge semi auto licence
I think the 29 inch mentioned is a typo. The correct minimum length is less than 20 inches. The two 1. Semi Auto and 2. the minimum length of less than 20 inches for a shotgun barrel are separate entities. Both are regulated by MHAI. Semi Auto can be a rifle, when the 20 inch minimum does not apply but still needs a PB Licence. A shotgun in either of the 1 and 2 categories needs a PB Licence.Vikram wrote:Ashok, in the case of a semi-auto, the barrel length should not be less than 29". That is what the Arms Rules-1962 say.

Sudhaiob,
You are right. My first post was incorrect and I apologise for that.
