IOF .22 ammo is not so poor after all?

Post by BowMan » Tue Jun 11, 2013 2:17 pm

My dad seems to think so and I seem to agree. I have heard some unconfirmed reports of IOF importing a complete plant from Eley...?

The first group is from RWS .22 target ammo and the second is using IOF Kanpur .22 ball ammunition. Both are 15 shots each done today by dad shooting prone using a 50 year old Anschütz Match Model 54 club rifle. Conditions are humid with little or no wind.

I had heard about the collaboration with Eley...the plant and all. One friend was shooting the new ammo and had a louder pop to it. I haven't shot any at the range.
But it is possible that change has finally come. ;-)
BY the way your father is quite a shot though, if those are fifty meter groups.

its difficult to comment.
why not set up the gun in a vice and fire equal number of rounds of both brands , that would be definitive.

Yup that would be definitive and I am also thinking of adding some chronograph tests. But I think there is definitely some improvement on part of IOF.

Another thing to consider is that rim-fire rifles can be very picky about which ammo they like.

Bowman,

You have a very tough act to follow :-). You father is a pretty good shot. Must be shooting 90 % or thereabouts.

I guess that's why I stay happy with my Bow :D

But yes for someone who is 60 and has diabetes he does good shooting.

Bowman, I saw both the groups.... They speak a lot about a 60 year old young man with eyes like an eagle. Forget the ammo man ! He will shoot the same group with whatever you give him. Take my word for it. :D

My regards to your Dad
