if i may say so...i would prefer to make a slightly larger wooden model of the knife and have the blade forged by a local blacksmith. then i can grind the blade to its correct size, harden, temper, finish the blade and put a handle on it. (this is what i did with my kukri)

"Stock removal" refers to grinding the knife to shape, right? What did you use to grind a file?

angle grinder. you will have to be careful that you dont overheat the steel. i would do a couple of passes and then apply a wet sponge to the file. hope that helps. sorry for the delay in response.essdee1972 wrote:Thanks! Bear with me for a while, if you don't mind!! .....

i loved the Recurved chopper the best! excellent try at forging ! as said earlier the kamani pattas(leaf springs) are the best for knives i even heard old steel files are equally suited for this purpose!
