Rajat, what an impeccable taste in all things sharp and shiny. First the Extrema Ratio Shrapnel, now the ZT.... What else do you have hidden in your collection.... :D

Benchmade 755 MPR

Post by choombak » Tue Jul 12, 2011 3:52 pm

I sold this beauty to free some funds. Its totally bank-vault stuff, hefty, strong, and makes a statement - totally justifies its name "Mini Pocket Rocket". Its a Shane Sibert collab with BM.

And here's the blade thickness at ~4mm

A 4 mm thick blade, and a wide belly makes it a monster cutter. BM has done a neat finishing on it as well. The G10 scales are very grippy (actually abrasive I'd say).

Titanium mono-lock mechanism
Tactical drop-point blade with ambidextrous thumb-stud opener
M390 super steel blade (60-62HRC)
Titanium and G10 handles with titanium tip-down carry clip

no compromise on materials, great design, small - easy to carry, hard to defend against, hardest steel - superb

what are you planing to get instead?

You really should get one Subal. It is worth buying and check out the steel CPM 3V. It is one of the best. This is not to mention the grip.

Hey Moin! Not so fast, only one at a time. This will keep it interesting! :D

congratulation!! great knife and seem like ZT0100 quite difficult to find nowadays. perhaps I will buy it too, before it disappears completely.
ZT0100 is not difficult to find, as its available at several online reputed stores. If you are looking at a fixed blade, and are willing to spend slightly more, also consider Busse. You also have Schempp Rock, and Temperance 2 from Spyderco.

from Blackwater's training center site ZT0100 is 60 dollars less compare to knifecenter.

Do they ship international? I have good experience with KC, since they do ship international via FedEx/DHL (though it gets pricey at times!).

Moin, you were not supposed to put up this question specially when it has been sold and the payment is pending. ROTFL You did not even get a a reply!

My guess would be that since it is build like a tank, it fits in the pocket like one and weighs likewise. :D Not a convenient EDC

Also since the grip is almost abrasive its easy to image what it does to your jeans pockets. :D

Relax guys, this is just meant on a lighter note  although I do not know how much of this might be true.

Of course it is still available as it is a knife currently in production. Although Subal is right, there is a shortage at present but I guess this will be temporary.

Talk about ergonomics and about the blade steel and you will know what I am saying about the ZT.

Even if you spend the same amount or more with the Busse or the Spydercos they will not be in the same league. And I am not saying that the ZT101 is the best available knife in the market, there are a lot of other knives which are as good or better but so far I did not see you mention any. Even for a higher price.

It just needs some more research, I am sure you will get there :D Of course your opinion might differ from mine and I have nothing against it.

I have a couple of JDR tools on the way, so had to free some funds. Lately, I have taken a fancy towards single-piece tools, and these days carry a Piranha from PocketToolX. Maybe I'll get an Atwood as well. So a lot of money totally put together. :-)

Opinions are like wrist-watches - everyone has one, and everyone thinks his shows the correct time. Busse is obviously not in the same league as ZT - it is two notches up (I have handled both Busse, and ZT0100/0200/5* series).
