Re: Question in parliament
It is not just an issue of safeguarding the rights of gun owners only, it is about upholding the principles of freedom and democracy. It is about the freedom and security of all Indians. Indians simply cannot afford to disarm themselves and allow only police and criminals to have guns. Dictatorship, tyranny, autocracy etc. was about monopoly of power and violence in hands of few. Democracy was created with the purpose to ensure that monopoly of power and violence does not slip into hands of few under any color or pretext.
“Firearms stand next in importance to the Constitution itself. They are the American people’s liberty teeth and keystone under independence. The church, the plow, the prairie wagon, and citizen’s firearms are indelibly related. From the hour the Pilgrims landed, to the present day, events, occurrences, and tendencies prove that to insure peace, security and happiness, the rifle and the pistol are equally indispensable. Every corner of this land knows firearms, and more than 99.99% of them by their silence indicate they are in safe and sane hands. The very atmosphere of firearms anywhere and everywhere restrains evil interference; they deserve a place with all that’s good. When firearms go, ALL GOES; we need them every hour.”-George Washington

Re: Question in parliament
Guys, guys - PLEASE - I really am not the person who deserves any credit here! It is firstly the IFG members who came forward and got in touch as soon as we sent out a request to all via e-mail/ PM (last month). I would like to name them, but will first need to get their OK... secondly it is our very own president of NAGRI - Shri Rahoul Rai, who has tirelessly been personally following up on every single lead - calling up/ meeting people, every single day! This despite his hectic work schedule as well as very important personal commitments... last but not the least, we should appreciate the Member's of Parliament who have risen to the occasion and taken up this issue - disregarding all party affiliations! As far as I am concerned each one of these gents deserves a huge round of applause from all of us, and when the time comes we should make a list & support them to the fullest in the next elections!!!

Re: Question in parliament
This is great news and start in the parliament. After we have sent letters to our MPs, I'm sure those haven't spoken of it yet, have it on their conscience at least. Lets us hope that with an increasing debate they will follow suit.
From what I've observed after discussions with peers, our people are painfully unaware of the gravity of this matter and that how fundamental it is to us. Actually as fundamental as poverty, corruption, wild life preservation and climate change.
It deserves a debate - in parliament, on tea stalls, bus stands, events and gatherings.
By the way, I relocated from Bangalore to Delhi / NCR. I hope to meet with fellow IFGians at Karni Singh shooting range during CWG or sooner
Take care.

Re: Question in parliament
I fully agree. This is because common man on the street is not a firearm owner. It is simply because the masses have been kept ignorant and away from firearms, cleverly by government. By making the possess extremely difficult and artificially inflating the cost of firearms beyond the range of common people. The solution lies in making the licensing process simple, more manufacturers, opening of imports. This will make common man a firearm owner. From what I've observed after discussions with peers, our people are painfully unaware of the gravity of this matter and that how fundamental it is to us. Why there is approval process from licencing authority? Answer is For corruption.
They can approved license to all of them who donnt have any criminal record, Educated & Earning well etc but no they will never do this because there income source will get cut after.

Jeff Cooper advocated four basic rules of gun safety:
1) All guns are always loaded. Even if they are not, treat them as if they are.
2) Never let the muzzle cover anything you are not willing to destroy.
3) Keep your finger off the trigger till your sights are on the target.
4) Identify your target, and what is behind it.

I'm finding it a little hard to carry my rifle in my pocket at the moment, so i guess the crime graph ain't going down.
