Finally home....my .375 Fl. Mag. double

She arrived the day before, after a long wait and an equally long road trip, but in the end it was worth every night spent sleepless and each day spent dreaming, its been 36 years since my dad sprang the locks again on an oak and leather case, the look on his face was one i'll never forget ....this is truly one of those rifles that conjure visions....my own double, chambered in a cartridge of legend, and one that is closest to my heart..

"With solid bullets on heavy animals such as elephant, rhino and buffalo this power is quite apparent but is not so obvious as when soft-nose bullets are being used, say, lion, particularly when is a case of stopping a charge : the .404 will stop him all right, but will seldom crumple him quite so completely as will the .416" -- John Taylor, Big Game and Big Game Rifles, (Ch. Vikram & Herb,

Its a .375 H&H Flanged Magnum made by Gustav Genschow & Co. Hamburg, Germany, serial no. 4480, the rifle has a color case-hardened clamshell boxlock action with delicate floral scroll, its got 25 1/2 inch barrels, LOP is 14" with the original factory red recoil pad, a full-length machined rib with one standing and four folding express sights with a fixed bead up front, cocking indicators, and a Deeley pull-down forend release, the bores are absolutely mint...can't wait for the weekend now!

Thanks Gaurav! You're more than welcome to come and see it in person in Pune, I admire your Rigby, I once passed up a superb cased .470 Rigby with a rising bite, I love the big heavies and personally feel that once you've been bitten, there's no turning back!
