Err, actually Jitu, to be rather immodest, this exercise as far as I know, is devised by me to teach some of my students. I have always believed in venting my creativity in all aspects of my life. My students who were youngsters, found it easy and FUN to do.

It takes me 30 minutes to read a small page in marathi, this is because of my army background, I was born in Jhansi, studied in Jabalpur and by the time I reached Maharashtra, I flunked in marathi, so shifted to french. Anything in english, hindi up my street, otherwise I pass.

Lesson No. 12
Holding in the aiming area "hold'

The russian coaches, I have seen, emphasise on two aspects greatly, the strength of the wrist and reducing the arc of movement. In military terms, we talk of a stable gun platform. Similarly, the training for reducing the arc of movement within the aiming area, provides the base for good shooting and also HUGELY contributes to confidence level of the shooter.
Shooters, who KNOW their hold charachteristics, well, KNOW WHEN to CANCEL the shot. This is very apparent in novices, who tend to stretch the hold for too long, thus spoiling their shot.
The exercise in itself is quite simple;
1. make a small spot or stick your mother's, wife's or sister's tikli on the wall at 140 - 145 cms, then hold the aligned sights below the tikli, bindi. The hold should not exceed 10 seconds. The width of the tikli bindi should be around the 10th ring bull cut out. Yes you can cut the 10th ring itself and stick it to the wall. (Lest your wife wonders what you are upto next).
2.Repititions, should be 60 per hour minimum to 100 per hour maximum.
Caution: Do not expect the sights to freeze, some movement always takes place, be relaxed (dont clench your teeth) but be very very alert and concentrate hard.
3.Initially do not cock your trigger, just maintain normal pressure.
