Hi,
I would recommend .32 since i have some experience with it and given the current situtation, its a good revolver. Fired several rounds through it and so far does not have any problems.

Cheers

I'm almost afraid to ask, does that mean it sometimes doesn't shoot at all? ;)

well without any doubt one should go for mark 3 . It is latest model , with better fit and finish over mark 2 . and you wont get any discount on mark 2 . Raghuveer I bought .32 mk3 from Kanpur in January, it is well made with good fit and finish, has a smooth action as compared to mk2 ( not as smooth as imported ones) but good as per Indian ordinance standard. regarding .22 or .32 It depends on you budget. .22 for 50k and .32 for 84k . Secondly a .22 is a side opener and .32 is top opener. Ammunition .22 bullet will cost you 15rs and .32 will cost you anywhere near rs 50-55 . My first cousin bought a .22 few days before I bought a .32. And most important .22 is available with all gun dealers across India but .32 can only be bought from Kanpur or any ordinance depot near your place ( if there is any). The biggest fault with a .22 revolver is that after firing a bullet it does not ejects automatically . The empty shell swells and has to pulled out with extreme force ( using some screwdriver like tool ) . But no such problem with .32 cartridges , they come out slick smooth. My personal view is a .32 mk3, rest depends on your choice. An aluminum made metal sleeved .22 revolver feels poorly made. If one really wants to buy a .22 go in for an imported one , they are some really good one's available ,but but for that you need to have a hefty pocket.

Bye

Raghuveer when I went to Kanpur ( Field gun factory) in January there was a rummer that IOF was about to launch two models . One with 6" barrel and one as a side opener like .22 IOF revolver ( which is also a side opener) . I don't know how reliable this information was :?: . Another thing is that even till 22nd Jan they were giving 2009 made revolver ( god knows how much stock do they maintain )

Query regarding booking

yesterday i have send booking form to fgf kanpur along with demand draft of 6000 and photocopy of license. now going though term and conditions in application form they have written they will issue advice note. now query is

1-whether rest amount has to be send by demand draft by post after issuing of advice note or i have to take d/d along with me at the time of collection of weapon along with other formalities.

2 waiting period will be issued after receiving this application form and RS 6000 or after sending rest of whole amount.

i have gone though previous post but not clear regarding booking procedure kindly reply thanks in advance

Dear axe,

They have stopped booking the revolver with Rs 6000/- They will return your draft and ask for the full amount of Rs 84082/- as booking amount. The price was raised on 27/2/2010. After that you will be provided with the reg. no and the date of delivery will be informed, you can collect the revolver on the said date after acquiring transport license from the D.M. Kanpur. The estimated time of delivery after confirmation of order is around 35 to 45 days.
