I'm curious too, feels like a lull .. I don't know what happened after we had sent feedback to home ministry over proposed policy amendment draft.

Can we have a touchbase?

The disconnect is understandable, especially as whatever has been going on has had to be necessarily "not for public consumption". That said and without revealing any privileged information, may I point all of you to an interesting fact - the original MHA draft policy had been published for public feedback at http://mha.nic.in/pdfs/DAAM-PolicyIndiv ... 211209.pdf (only in English), with the last date for feedback given as 6th January 2010. At that time, when one visited the Hindi section, there was no information in this regard at all!

On the other hand, now if you go to the MHA website and click through to the relevant sections in Hindi, you will find that a translation of the same MHA draft policy had been published for public feedback in HINDI at http://mha.nic.in/hindi/pdfs_hin/ArmsAm ... 140110.pdf - published on 14th January 2010 and listing the last date for feedback as 29th January 2010.

For now this is the only piece of information (feel free to draw your own conclusions as to what this means) that I am currently at liberty to share. There is a lot more happening in the background, and maybe in due course I will be given permission to share this with everyone at large.

Meanwhile, the membership modalities have almost been sorted out and forms will soon be put up for all who are interested in joining hands in this historic movement.

Cheers!

I don't see anything stupid .. why would it be .. discussion is a way to keep the momentum.
Besides, RTI mostly proves a functional and effective weapon for citizenry.

Though constantly on this forum I missed this great thread.
Finally light in the eternal darkness!

This was something that was desperately needed. Seeing the sheer volume of members here at IFG , i am sure there wud be no problem to find support . U just lead the way and we will all b there to extend any form of support possible.
I think its time we should take this this agenda to a national level and create a very strong lobby , just like in the US , to create a tough stand towards the government.

I am in favour of NAGRI. How can I contribute and participate in NAGRI.
If there were a voting system , I would vote in favour of NAGRI.

Hi,

I have received this response from MHA w.r.t grievance portal that has been started by GOI.

Sir,

I am directed to refer to your grievances received in MHA under registration no. MINHA/E/2010/00010 dated 02/01/2010 on the subject Amendment in Arms act and to say that Arms policy was reviewed recently and revised policy has been announced on 06/04/2010. Youmay refer to MHA's website "mha.nic.in" and peruse the same under the heading "circulars". Grant of arms licence has not been banned but will be allowed in deserving cases as per norms given in the policy announced.

Signed by Under Secretary to GOI.

Fyi....

Whoever is working on the cases need to look at the last line and make the judge understand that this whole concept of MHA w.r.t deserving cases makes the way open for the person in power to abuse this clause.

Regards
Jeff Cooper advocated four basic rules of gun safety:
1) All guns are always loaded. Even if they are not, treat them as if they are.
2) Never let the muzzle cover anything you are not willing to destroy.
3) Keep your finger off the trigger till your sights are on the target.
4) Identify your target, and what is behind it.
