How can it be a "Winchester three-lug bolt", when Winchester never made a rifle with a three-lug bolt?

Hi Winne, they tried the Sauer clone all was well till they reached the bolt, that for reasons best known to IOF guys, the bolt was made in almunium,so they to learn from their experince from the Revolver/Pistol,Revolver was an Webley clone and Pistol was a Browning clone, the 12 bore was a BSA clone, these atleast were clean clones, enhancing my belief in the old adage NAKEL KE LIYA BHI AKAL CHAIYE, the 315 defined reason and logic,so now they are not just cloning they are mixing and matching the parent stock.Guess the designers at the ordi factory { IF ANY} think they are smarter then Sauer,Winchester,Browning etc, etc. 100 me se 98 beimaan phir bhi mera Bharat mahaan

You all got it wrong its pollination if plants and animals can be cross pollinated or cross bred why cant the same be done with technology..its a higher plane of thinking mate..look at INSAS remember that saying how once George Bernard Shaw retort to an actress - if we marry there is an equal chance our kids could be as ugly as me and as stupid as you rather than smart and good looking..alas IOF yup mera Bharat Mahan and Chakde what ever imagine the other goodies made by these drunk monkeys ..sorry thats a slur against monkeys

Are they going to get a prize for making it work in aluminium in a 30-06 rifle :?: A Noble prize for something like metallurgy perhaps?

Amit,

The bolt is made of steel

The bolt is made of steel

The bolt is made of steel

The bolt is made of steel

Why people insist on believing that it is made of aluminium is beyond me.If it were made of aluminium, the very first shot would destroy it and probably kill the shooter as well.

Winnie,

I think many think it's aluminium simply because of its colour.

Hi Winne, its not STEEL,IOF claims its made if an Alminium Alloy the same alloy they are using for the 22 Revolver, the 315 which still commands a premium is the OLD MODEL straight butt, that had a bold in Steel, why does 315 tend to jam after firing a cpl of shots cause the bolt overheats, they are using the same material for the bolt of the 30-06.The Sauer 202, 30-06 is an excellent selling rifle in Europe with a 3 shot magazine, because the bolt is STAINLESS STEEL,like i contended NAKAL KE LIYE BHI AKAL CHAIYE. MR N grewal please dont insult monkeys by comparing the IOF JOKERS to them,i have spent many a hours observing monkeys and if the management of IOF is given to monkeys you would be getting world class weaponry here in INDIA.

hi Amit
i have been following this for while now, can i ask you to post the source of you information to settle this once for all?
as it looks like an interesting points made by everyone, the only way forward to a conclusion would be to see what the IOF says, as you are aware few members have the 3006 and they are saying it to be steel. i have seen olly's IOF 3006 and the bolt, according to me is made of steel, (am not an expert of any sorts)
many thanks
Nagarifle

The bolt is steel... only the barrel extension / receiver is aluminium alloy of the 'Indian' kind... :)

Where do they claim this?I did not find any such reference on the IOFB web site.

Now that is something new.

I have a RFi 2008 .315 and it does not jam.I have fired more than a couple of rounds at one time from it.BTW the bolt under the chrome plating is steel.

You did know that it is chrome plated, did you not?

Can you also tell me at what pressure the .315 is proofed at?

Can you even foresee a bolt made from aluminium surviving such pressures?(the second is provided you know the answer to the first).

Will try to post some photos for your benefit.

The receiver is an aluminum alloy (of whatever kind), the barrel extension is STEEL, just like the bolt and the barrel. And because the bolt and barrel lock directly together, there is no stress on the receiver.

You can have a look at the photos here

Had to get a friend to chip in.One is chrome plated and one has the chrome plating removed(the shiny one).Sorry could not get decent photos as I took them with a camera phone. This is the best that I could do.

I handled an IOF .30 06 extensively on Friday. The bolt is definitely steel.
