Am I reading some of this info correctly? You are allowed to buy 25 rounds of ammo a year on a firearm license???

Yes Big Al ...power of pen in hands of a bureaucrat yields all this ..its guy behind the desk's digression on annual ammo quota..most of the folks are lucky to be at this stage with license in hand..actually forces shooters to do more dry practice ...i mean make very bullet count...pun intended

I saw the entry on Wikipedia gave a price of "Rs. 82,000/- (approx USD 2000)." That seems very expensive to me, for such a revolver. The article also said the quality was inferior. Being that Wikipedia is sort of subjective, I was curious, how some of you in India rate the quality of the IOF revolvers.

Wikipedia is saying the right thing. The IOF revolver is definitely overpriced and the quality is variable/inconsistent. Personally I do not think it to be worth more than between USD 100 to USD 200 under any condition. Government due to it's restrictive and manipulative policies to discourage firearm ownership and protect the government owned IOF, has kept the price high. You will be surprised to know that a country with a population of over 1 billion, has only 1 company(government owned IOF)legally manufacturing revolvers/pistols and rifles. Import of firearms is also restricted for civillians(practically as good as banned). Since IOF is the only legal player in market, it has no competition, it does not have to worry about the quality or the price. Hence the law abiding have to pay through their nose the astronomical price for firearms/ammunition that is not worth its price. On the other hand, the criminal elements give 3 hoots to the law and purchase illegal firearms/ammunition from illegal market at the fraction of the cost.
