Re: Types of Knives
Yes,yes, yes Mack The Knife, that's the one..so "Folding Pig Sticking Knife" it is. The ones I saw were old world designs and much sleeker though. I may as well settle for this one. A BIG THANKS Mack The Knife !!!!

Re: Types of Knives
You are welcome. If I come across an older Solingen made one, I'll PM you.
There is a German name/term for these knives but it escapes me at the moment.

Here's another example - http://www.worldknives.com/products/hub ... -1646.html
The older German examples are also there but it needs a bit of trawling on the net.

Nice collection,everyone.Thanks for sharing.

From the link
Tactic inspired from bull fighting? Stabbing with that curve? I am not a knives expert, but would like to know if someone could explain.Thanks."When fighting with a corvo, the wielder will not feint with the blade itself; traditionally it is used in conjunction with a rag, poncho or stick in the off-hand, which allows the bearer to parry an incoming attack. The corvo is then used to counterattack with a swiping, slashing or stabbing motion."

Re: Types of Knives
The Corvo design seems to be inspired by the traditional Jambiya daggers.

Re: Types of Knives
Yaj, I remember reading about the Jordanian SF designing their own handgun-in conjunction with a US armsmaker and I think that Jambiya design is from their repertoire. The Jambiyas-Yemeni ones-I've seen, are darkly handsome rhino horned and grimly lethal. This corvo design seems to follow the structure of the sheath, rather than the traditional blade

Re: Types of Knives
Totally agree with you Asif! The Jambiya blade itself is never that curved. Been trying to get my hands on one for some time now(not the rhino handled ones-couldn't afford those) but the damn things are always priced a bit higher than I like because of the handle material or ornamentation.Just looking for a plain Jane working specimen
