N 35 - doubt about zeroing
hello friends,
i just yesterday brought a national 35 (.177) and today me & one of my friends zeroed it by firing around 50-60 shots. but from the very beginning itself, the shots showed an orientation to right side and to correct it he screwed the side screw (rear sight) in clockwise many times. now it is almost corrected. but now, if look from the top, the bridge of rear sight is seen moved to left side considerably. the marks on the movable part and immovable bridge of thw rear sight, which normally should comes in straight line, has a difference of 2-3 millimeters. i feel it is strange since its brand new piece. but my friend-he is an expert veteran in shooting-says it is ok and need not to worry since results are satisfactory.
now, my questions are
1. is it happen often and is it normal?
2. is it a major defect?
3.should i get replaced it since 1 year guarantee with free of cost spare parts?
we used g smith amature pellets only. the wooden stalk, color, quality of painting and overall look is good. please give your suggestions/advices.
warm regards to all IFGians

Re: N 35 - doubt about zeroing
I would normally recommend you to take a digicam pic, and join a free photo hosting site like photobucket. upload the pic there and post us a link.
till then:
i. what distance were you zeroing?
ii. when you say the rear sight bridge has moved, what do you see when you put your head on the stock and take aim? a normal sight picture with both front and rear sights aligned, or not?
my ihp 35 was quite a pain to zero. the clicks were either too small or too big. i have finally adjusted my sight picture instead!!

the distance was around 10 meters. i get a the normal sight with both sights aligned. please follow the link (you may have to copy & paste the link) i have uploaded one picture.

see the difference in alignment between the elevation screw platform and the side screw platform. look at the marks on that. even though this is the condition, i am getting decent shots. i want to get clarified that, is it a minor/normal difference or should i rush to the dealer?
thanks

Re: N 35 - doubt about zeroing
From the pics, it appears that the rear sight has moved , as expected, because you zeroed the gun. You get a normal sight picture when you look and the gun shoots where you want it to because of this movement.
