Underlever air rifles - A comparison

Dear all,

This is just a small comparison between 2 underlever air rifles - The Diana 460 magnum in .177 and the Jimy in .22. Despite the fact that the 460 magnum is ballistically superior to the .22 Jimy, there are two features in the latter that i'd like the former to have. One is the lever locking mechanism and the other is the loading system.

Jimy's underlever has a button on the top which clicks when locked. One can be doubly sure that the lever has locked perfectly before proceeding to the next action.

The Diana 460 magnum doesn't have this feature. Though it may not be a matter of concern for many, it is for me anyday.

The second feature in Jimy that i feel is much more advantageous is the loading mechanism. Jimy has a 'turn-button' system which opens up a slot for loading the pellet. Another twist, and the pellet is fed into the chamber. This system ensures that the pellet doesn't drop on the ground even if it slips from the user's hand while loading, particularly when it's an emergency situation.

The Diana 460 magnum's loading port opens simultaneously when the lever is pulled down. And then there is a gap through which the pellet is loaded into the chamber. As i said, when it's an emergency situation wherein the shooter keeps a constant eye on his intended target, he may fumble to feed the pellet into the chamber and in the process, the pellet might slip from his hand and fall into the breech end of the rifle (if it is in upright position) or on the ground.

However, Jimy lacks the most important feature, ie, the safety mechanism. The D 460 Mag has 2 safety buttons -- One to prevent accidental firing and the other for the underlever.

It is common knowledge that of the two, the Diana 460 mag is the undisputed leader. However, it is my personal view that an imported toy like the D 460 Mag could always do well with such features.

Is Jimmy's under-lever a brand available down south or do they promote it in North also?? Any idea??

Jimmy airrifle are made in calcutta. They are tap model loading system ,heavy than ihp and low built quality than ihp in terms of trigger,sights..

Jimmy Guns are not available in Bangalore.I went this Saturday to Kovi shop they have few IHPs but no Jimmy...There are few other shops near Sivajinagar Busstand and near Coles park next to Shddique chicken shop but they don't have it either.They have all other airguns some made in Calcutta and double the price. Kovi shop asked .22 Ihp aroung 5500 from me.I got the Jimmy Airgun address from his forum only and called them but they are not ready to sell the guns to an indiviual buyres...Guys can try your luck..and if successful can tell me also.

I am from Ramamurthy nagar. They have one left all rusty and no blueing. Its a very old gun and i dont get the feeling of the gun rather a hand canon Must be close to 4.5kg and not balanced. I find Tommy is quite good with good rifling and mod 75 is better cost is Rs 3800 at Asian armoury.
