Scope For SDB air rifle....

Hi everyone, My Name is John P Kurian. I am living in Kerala. I am new to this site. I have recently bounght an SDB air rifle(Model: MCD-45). I would like to mount a scope on it. But it does not have any provision for it(no rails etc...).I am at a loss. can u tell me what I should do to mount a scope on it.

u have to fix a scope rail on ur rife,which any gun smith can do, n and more over scope wont b effective on indian break barrel rifles.I myself owe a sdb, it gives a verry high vibration.so my sdvice is don waste money.

Hi There Rohan,

I too own a SDB Air Rifle in .22 and it does have the provision for a scope but considering the power that this Indian air rifle has it would be an excercise in futility to mount a scope.

i too own a sdb45 air rifle i welded a 1cm*15cm metal plate over the cylinder to mount the scope
and it is working good.

The air rifle hardly can shoot more than 100 mts. So what is the point to add a scope? I own an IHP .22 , upto 100 mts, you don't need a scope, and more than 100 mts, your air rifle wont serve.

rudrakantho, you probably mean 100 feet, which is also a difficult proposition for an Indian break barrel when accuracy is demanded.

The IHP .22 can shoot very well up to 25 and thirty meters. 100 will be optimistic as far as accuracy goes. The pellet does travel that far but that is not the range you can actually hit something with.

Scoping the air rifle helps you to place your shots more accurately, provided the trigger doesn't make you pull your shot off the mark.

(1) Would you suggest some pointed pellets for my SDB Model 27 Air Rifle?
(2) Once I pass the beginner tag, which rifle would you suggest? While I have heard a lot of names, deciding on one is tough. Hence, I'm seeking an expert opinion. Ideally, once I pass the beginner level, I would like to have an air rifle with good range (50 meters and above), performance, power and stability (edited).

If you have not bought the gun as yet then go for SDB Sport in .177.
Here you get both, close Target shooting as well as 50 + yds shooting.
Based on your need , you can change the main spring.
Sport has scope groove to adapt mount.
