It is a spring piston design. The massive steel piston is pulled towards the foresight and upon firing it slams on the rear against a thick (oil soaked) and hard leather buffer. A small port @ 12:00 o'clock allows the compressed air to rise towards the bbl and push the pellet out.

Cocking is very easy/comfortable but the trigger must be 6 Lbs. (3.2 Kgs), at least.

It's smooth at Low power but it kicks like a mule at High power settings (by turning slotter screw at the back).

Thanks. My national is a single cock spring piston with adjustable trigger. There is a sight rail on top where I mount a 4x scope. The Hammerli barrels are rare. Only the first 5000 models had the imported Swiss barrels. The later ones are made in India.

Diana Mod 15 .177 Airgun at age 6 (bought new), shot it a lot and overhauled it many times. Had it till the late 80's, then it was misplaced/stolen.

Diana Mod 27 .22 (aquired second hand) at age 12, gave it to cousin, with his son now. Nice straight shooting gun almost 40+ years old now.

Currently in the process of aquiring a Pneumatic .177 Air Pistol.

Tha National Co2 air pistol was launched in the market at least two years ago. Dont know why they are still calling it new. Market feedback is that its precise. But there is problem in refilling as it wont take standard commercial powerlets. The case was the same with National's impressive line of Co2 air rifles. The company had to stop production because of the refilling problem. Shooters have to carry a cylinder around. Then there are complaints like gas leaks and bad washers etc.

If you are going for 10 m precision shooting then the side levers are the only choice. They are good weapons althoough a bit expensive by Indian standards. The break barrels (specially Model 25) are good choice for practice and plinking. NHp's air rifle/pistol division sustains on the break barrels.

Thats quite a coincidence. My first air pistol was a Tommy model 70 in .177. The company, based in Kolkata, closed down years ago. But I still have the pistol. It was a gift from dad when I was seven/eight.
