my Norinco JW15A .22lr bolt rifle

this is my .22lr Norinco JW15A bolt action rifle. this "made in china" rimfire is excellent value for money....and extremely accurate! really really accurate....sub moa groups at 100mts....

all i did was tune the trigger/sear disengagement point and dont want to do anything else to it, its my workhorse! i have taken small game in the hundreds with this rifle, from so many varying distances, with multile types and brands of ammunition. i never take off the silencer, i just compensate when using hyper velocity rounds (CCI Stinger) or when using subsonics. i dont shoot beyond 100mts at small game. i have taken many jackals and wild cats with this rifle, rabbits and hares, game birds, vermin as well. its a great shooter.

it just keeps going! i recently put on a variable scope and now i can get sub moa groups out to 180mts! the silencer is a 1/2" UNF thread, barrel comes factory threaded so no need for smithing. 11 degree crown standard.

Sub MoA at 180 meters with a Norinco and S&B, Stingers and Remmi ammo, well I guess you have exceptional skills combined with an exceptional rifle.

that is shooting from a bag rest...lol. sounds a bit far-fetched, but one has to shoot this rifle to get a true feel.

ps: the sub moa groups are achieved with standard velocity round nose ammo.
as for the stingers, amazing destructive power...i have seen that ammo do heavy damage to small game. i would not call it a clean-killer bullet.

i am into shooting as silently as possible, so a have many brands of subsonics. the best subsonic rounds i have used are Eley copper-jacketed HPs. superb power with low sound. cant find them anymore in south africa.

remmington HPs in the photo, are terrible for vermin culling. severly underpowered, i had a chance to chrony a mag (9 shots)...average velocity was 860fps! that box is 8 years old...i just dont use them for culling anymore...now i just use solid point subsonics from our local manufacturer "Swartklip"

I do go through quite a bit of .22lr ammo every year. Mostly CCI stuff, subsonics, standard velocity, stingers, mini mags, velocitators, Lapua Midas L, M, Eley Subsonics, Team, Practise, Tenex, SK Match, RWS etc. Currently I should have about 5-10K on hand.
I also like to test various types of ammo for accuracy.

the new Firearms Control Act of 2002 in south africa limits firearm owners from having more than a total of 200 rounds of ammunition per licenced calibre.

nice groups, wonderful to meet a fellow rimfire fanatic like myself. what rifle are you shooting? what maximum distances? type of scope?

the rWS grouping is very promising, well done.

you get an opportunity to shoot Aguila rounds? nobody brings them into RSA

the groups are at 100 meters, Cz 452, Baraska scope. Nothing special by any means. The lapua group is actually the smallest. With the .22 LR once in a while I will venture to 200 meters, which is about the pratical limit. With other calibers to about 1000.

My .22 LR rifles do not seem to like Aguila ammo, so I do not shoot them. Even though legend has it, that its essentially eley.

I am more into point blank benchrest and tactical long range. Current primary calibers I like to shoot are 6 mm NBR, 6 PPC and 30 BR. Also 260 Rem.. on good days I stay under .25 MoA on bad ones under 1 with these calibers.

I havent actually seen the IOf, but have seen the JW and Cz. Between the JW and Cz there is a huge difference. The chinese seem to be making decent weapons, allegedly the Norinco copy of the dragunov is more accurate. I have only shot the Dragunov and a few EE copies and dont like them since they do not fit me correctly.

Nice weapon!I have a BRNO2e,with a Tasco 3*9\40 scope,shot maybe around 500 rounds with it,taken a fair bit of game too.The only problem is I don't have any ammo for it!!!!There are no shops in my city selling ammo!!!

I bought a Brno Model 2 way back in 1972 (brand new) for a price that would sound like a steal today.
This one has a gently tapering barrel towards the muzzle and is MICRO GROOVED. I noticed this Micro Groove thing just a few years ago. I guess this makes this rifle unusual. It has a Leupold compact 4x power scope with quick detachable mounts sitting on it which makes everything look right in proportion. This combo is super accurate with all kinds of standard and HV ammo. The groups grow slightly larger with hyper velocity ammo though, but I am not complaining. I have managed to keep it looking as new as when I bought it. Not bad eh...38 years.

I hear good things about this Brno clone, and costs very little, wrt the original Brno, and is a good shooter too.
