Gunsmith reqd in Hyd.

Post by amer4545 » Thu Dec 03, 2009 9:58 am

Hello,
My gun .22 HW 90 air gun requires a good gun smith....bought the gun second hand and need to get the gun checked and a scope fitted.
Any one in Hyderabab/Secundarabad area please let me know.

The gun is not grouping well and germans (Weihrauch's) are know for both accuracy and grouping. I noticed that due to recoil the scope is shifting and has slightly widened the hole where the stopper of the scope is anchored.

Thanks
Amer

You may not need a gunsmith. Is the scope spring-gun rated? Are the mounts undamaged and properly seated? Please go through this link.

Once you finish reading it, post here about your observations about your set-up. Pictures will help a lot.

Vikram,
Thanks for the posting the set-up procedures of the scope. My first thought went towards the scope being under rated, its made in "China" so what i did was removed the scope entirely from the gun and shot about 8 pellets on a target from a distance of 12 yds.

The shots were all over the paper, pretty lined up vertically but about 5-6 inches apart. What do you say now?

Thanks
Amer

Did you shoot with the metal sights fixed and zeroed, standing or seated and from a rest?

Hi Amer,

HW90 are Gas ram guns and quite finikky about the pressure in Gasram as far as i know. Try to redude the pressure and shoot. I think you will find the sweet spot this way..

Lets wait for the more technically inclined chaps to chime in. I've my doubts whether a local gun smith in HYD can fix this problem

Even if it is not zeroed, and point of aim same then, you should get good grouping. IF not, two issues..1) your barrel is not cleaned and 2) you are not holding the gun properly. Holding a gun is a learning process. Another point, your gun not supposed to be rested on hard surface. Put a pillow under it and let the gun recoil.

-Good luck

I put a pillow under the gun and shot, same results...no grouping....shots are atleast 3 inches away from the previous shot in almost every direction....and the shots were taken at a distance of 10mts.

kindly post some picture of previous target and current target. Lets see how is the grouping. Based on that only we can say.

By the way, have you cleaned the barrel? Barrel cleaning can be done by pull-through or different method. You can do a search here. Many have written about it.

Fazal,
I have heard plenty about Nizam...do you have his number.

Tirths,
I will attach pics of the two targets so you understand the pattern of grouping, hopefully you can pick up the problem from that.

Thanks all

Visited Mr.Nizam in Amberpet, nice gentelmen....shot a few pellets with the scope mounted and told me the scope was out....then shot a few pellets with open sights....rifle seemed okay....after inspecting the barrel, barrel was either developing rust or residual remains or scratching from the use of bad pellets(gamo pellets).

So the gun is clean now, waiting for a new scope....will update the community about grouping.

Thanks all
-Amer

I have used G-Smith pellets and shot about 25 pellets at different distances, 10- 30 yds without a scope and the groupings were perfect...very very consistent.
The barrel cleaning and removing of the bad scope(made in china) has done the trick.
Need to buy a new scope for the gun....any advise.
Thanks All

This small job you could have done by yourself. Happy to hear that you are getting good grouping.
