Why you need Firearm? Why to apply Firearm Liecence?
Hello IFGian's, I started this post for a reason, a reason I and many other IFGians believe in, IMPLEMENTATON of RKBA. Let me inform everyone over here, I and many other Ifgians supporting this cause, hold licensed firearms. I have a license and should get my Handgun soon. Still, these guys are supporting RKBA to be implemented in a much better way in India. The Question to Answer here is Why? Why do members already in possession of Arms License and Fire Arm want to promote RKBA? I would like the members over here to answer on their behalf. As of now, I would only answer myself.
Let me take all you back to 26/11. I had to meet my client, the meeting was scheduled on 26/11 at Taj @ 19:30 hrs, fortunately the client didn’t get a booking at TAJ and booked himself in Grand Maratha and the meeting was scheduled at 15:00 hrs. We finished the meeting and left from their at 16:45 hrs, reached home at 18:00 hrs and late was enjoying my dinner with family, when I came to know about the tragic events. 10 armed terrorists entered our country and held it hostage for 60 deadly hours.
I didn't have any relative or anyone known to me in that incident. Having said that, can I say that the people who were killed or injured in that incident weren't related to me in any way? If I say so, I would be fooling myself. I was fortunate enough that I didn't meet my client in Taj and further the meeting didn’t last for long. Still I feel pathetic, I feel helpless, I feel like I am dying by every second, when I see those videos made on 26/11, when I see my countrymen being slaughtered in the most inhumane way. You can imagine the fear that was induced in thousands of us just by looking the live coverage of that massacre. Till today, I only ask one question to myself. God forbid, either I or any of my countrymen could be involved in such a terrifying situation.
Still, we can’t rule out the possibility of such an attack, when our elected politicians pass comments like “Bade, Bade Desheion me aisi chootti Chooti baatien hoti raheti Hain". This is the specific reason that people like me and many other on this site are trying our best to promote RKBA, to arm each and every Law abiding citizen and providing them the right to protect themselves, to protect the people they love the most, to protect the job they have hard earned, to protect the property they have built by slogging day and night. Don’t you think, that on 26/11, if some of the law abiding citizens were armed, this massacre could have been minimized, if not avoided. Guys, the human tendency reacts best to one thing and one thing only, the instinct of Survival. If the victims involved in 26/11, were armed. They would have fought back, yes they would have, not because of anything but only because they wanted to survive, they wanted to live, they wanted to protect themselves and their loved ones but what means did they have when they were pushed against the walls, ready to be slaughtered! Nothing but pray to god, pray that some miracle will save them.
Let me say a famous saying over here, "God Helps those who want to help themselves".
The only thing, I want to express here is that, I have a Arms License and would soon be in possession of Firearm but still want to fight for RKBA, like many others on this site, Why, Why? Answer is: I don’t want to loose my right! I want Indian law abiding citizens to enable themselves to protect their own lives. I don’t want myself and my family members to Mourn for our countrymen for 2 minutes and get back to our daily routines to wait for another act of terrorism to take place or to criticize the government for its failures. It’s not only the failure of Government; it’s the failure of each and every one of us. Hence, please support the movement, please file your grievance, the post started by Eternalme again providing a opportunity to 2600 odd IFG members to fight for their rights In which only 18 or 20 grievances have been filed till date, a very disappointing result.
Vote on Gun Owners foundation of India, support Mundaire for the movement he wanted to start for the benefit of our country but had to stall the process due to lack of support. All these guys are putting their efforts for people like you and me, lets support them. Your responses shall mean a lot, as some of the members are trying to start a movement, trying to fight for yours and my freedom to live independently but are disappointed due to lack of support. So let’s support them, which in turn will help us.
If not, then lets remove the RKBA section from here, where people only comment without meaning. I know that some may not take this post in the right spirit but guys I and each and everyone is trying to fight for every Indian citizen to have the right, Right to Live. Rest, I leave it to members to comment, I won’t mind any negative posts. Because I don’t want 26/11 to repeat again, I don’t want to mourn the death of innocents. I won’t give up, would fight till the very end and support in every possible and legal way the members fighting for RKBA.

guys
i know ravi by his posts... a guying taking inituative is what i will call him
@ ravi
i could have PM you to share this experience but no, i would like it to share here.
i told you what i did to spread the word of RKBA to my contacts, right? So yesterday i was chatting with my friend who's a quit educated kinda person , always abroad, studying , very intelligent and all that,on RBA topic. He somehow didn't let me down , maybe due to friendship, he forwarded the mail to his contacts (thats what he said).however he gave me an example of US sayin that guns there are sold like any other material , and now they face difficulty controlling the crime rate . i didn't agree to him sayin plz refer to indiansforguns website , which he said he did, however after sometime he was bold enough to say this that he will not support RKBA sayin this will not help but ruin the situation in near future.
i did give him what answers were to be given in that situation. But what i mean to say is a 25yr old educated Indian , plainly rejected the movement of RKBA whereas he/she should have thought of the positive points rather than the US stats which were wrong (as per my knowledge). Now these are we Indian youths who think of US more than India !!!
there has to be a way to reach the masses and turn them towards us , not forcefully but on facts ,that to brutal facts of life and of India .
we will surely come to something soon.
till then

Re: Why do you need Firearm? Why to apply Firearm Liecence?
Inder,
Thank you for posting the other brighter side of the GUNS. That picture is marvellous, I started to drool, looking at so much of ammo (used) lying on the floor,
I would also love to spend my weekends the same way. Nothing better then smelling the sweet fraganance of the Ammo when fired.
Lionheart, This precisely is the problem, i have faced. The mentallity has become so, that how much ever you try and educate the people about Guns, they would only look at the negatives and ignore all the positive benefits one can get. As far as Gun Control in US is concerned, you can share with your friend the recent Stats of England and Austrlia, where the Gun Control Laws have been implemented, the Result: The crime rate has hit the Roof.
The other thing, people fail to understand is, the Gun's are very much availabe in India, people are applying for liecence and are even able to get the same, though these people are either politicians, or very well connected people. As per the law, the platform to obtain Fire Arm Liecence shall be same for a politician and for a common man. If the common man has applied for the liecence, the only possibility for him to get one is, if he is ready to part a huge part of Vitamin M. On the other hand, the import is also allowed for the renowned shooters through NRAI. I dont understand, how can you promote the sport and make some one renowned shooter, if the guy doesnt has the right equipments to compete at the first place? If Renowned shooters can import the ARMS with proper paper work and through a guided channel to keep the process somooth, Legal and in control, Why cant the government appoint an agency or a department, which shall do the smae for common man?
I can go on and on.
Ravi

Re: Why do you need Firearm? Why to apply Firearm Liecence?
agreed ravi
however these are the people who first laugh at you then they challenge you , then they watch you succeed ...and then ... they wish they were you..
you will notice a huge change when people around you see you with a gun tugged in your belts and when you walk tall without any fear... that is the time they will wish they were you ..
as far the indian youth are concerned , i think i am gonna start hatein these people coz they believe in gandhigiri...bura mat dekho bura mat karo aur bura mat bolo... are yaar lekin ye bura hota kya hai ??? is carryin a gun for self defense purpose "bura"...?
my mother told me when i was a kid, never to touch a pan when it has just been taken off from the stove ... i didnt listen and i touched it ... i burnt my hand and then i realized that my mom was right...
likewise even all these youths are gonna burn their hands sooner or later... its gonna be late till then ...
we cannot wait until they learn their lesson... we have to overtake them somehow, coz i dont want my loved ones to be slaughtered by some outsider or even insider(at times)...
everyone has the right for self defense
but the problem is the freedom to express your views ... these youths dont understand that people with licensed guns dont go shooting innocents ...
i'll first do something about these youths ... ethical way though
i 'll come-up with something before its too late

Re: Why do you need Firearm? Why to apply Firearm Liecence?
Well said Ravi,
Just to make it short and simple, easy to understand the fact is every one has got right to live in a happy and prosperous world not being hidden at the homes, being terified of those guys having illegal arms and gonna shot u if don't agree them or refuse to pay them what you have earned by working hard day night. U have to have protect urself and people around you whether they are ur loved ones or even not known to you because they are innocent and have got nothing to do between the fight between politicians, countries, religions.........
If u are armed throgh legal formalities and know ur responsibilties if being armed than you are better citizen, better son/daughter, better neighbour than of being not. Holding a gun or carrying it in ur back doesn't mean that you are carrying a deadly weapon for somebody u hate or to impress the crowd around you, also it makes no sense rather it is for that you will respond back if anything happens and goes wrong against your life.
Niether everybody should be armed nor nobody. There should be some difference gap between law abidding, innocent citizen and the irresponsible and dangerous terrorists. Well everybody residing u and me thinks they are laible to own a weapon but it is not.
Lastly those who are respnosible citizen, can hold there guns back if somebody abuses them and so so so should be provided license for and protection arm to make a better peacefull world. M in and will do every possible deed for the great cause.
Regards,
Nitin Gahlot
