BJL, I saw your very well written post in the comments section of the article.
Well done sir, your post was a model of a eloquent, rational and balanced rebuttal of the junk that passes for journalism nowadays.

BLoody do they even know what they are covering in the news.
Let them sit and cover all the riots happening and all the pain people go through in them.
My question is very simple to all media people why dont riots happen in the US. Is it because people are heavily armed there and the people are scared to do un social things because they fear loss of limbs.
They only cover the problem of owning a gun. look at the brighter side of owning a weapon.
I sent mails to Times of India, Deccan Herald, and so many other news papers about the gun culture and the rules one has to face just to obtain a gun.
Well they are only worried abt more masala news and what people will enjoy reading,
As truely said, I could go to US, Own a gun and use it there for practice at the price i have to just pay for getting my license done here in India.

really these media people have the guts to ask a dying man ..."how is he feeling ...and....any last message"...but they dont cover the brighter side of any issue....they are the one making any local incident a BREAKING NEWS.
specially CNNIBN n INDIA TV ....and i regret that CNN has not inherited a single quality from its English sister channel
just because of these moron channels i stick to THE HINDU and Internet

i agree
however i never say to show agressiveness in words but our deeds or actions.
as Mr.Kaul has his fundaMENTAL rights ,every other indidual does too, which he/she can exercise.
we will be doning the same here , however we question the speaker instead of the reporter.
by "catching hold" does not mean that we go and bash him, it just means that we go and speak to him face-to-face and even let him know the importance of RKBA , maybe if he does understand we will a "reporter" or media person to support us.
doesnt it sound good???

Re: cnn ibn covers indian gun culture
I would like to make a point here, which most of you will probably dislike. See the thing is these Antis ? Some of them actually believe that they are helping the society with their work. Just like we do. Their views (result of probably living in posh areas with really low crime rate and sticking to page 3 of the newspaper) are quite different than ours. They actually believe that they can unarm everyone.
We can bash them. We can go at them. But what it will do is make a bad impression. We are trying to change the laws of a country here. Keep that in mind. Our fight is far different than of other pro-gun groups of the world. We need the majority of people on our side. And 50% of that majority (who votes) are in the range of the 35 year age group. And those people have proven time and time again, they don't like screamers. We don't wanna be a group that runs up to every anti post and say, " WHAT WAS THAT ?" At least I wouldn't. Make a point. A valid point with facts not emotions. And leave it. From my point of view that would be the preferred course of action. If you want people to take you seriously.
Let them do the screaming. And the people who vote, they can have their pick. A clam friendly group that makes valid points backed by stats or a unfriendly moral police.
Some one brought up US. In US there is a state. Texas. We all heard of it. I knew a guy from there, he used to say, " in here politics is simple. If you say No and Gun in the same paragraph you wont get votes. "
And know what that's what the politicians listen to, votes. Let's make a few Texas in India, shall we ?

Hi Zake,
I fully understand your point.
With due respect to you, these are my views. Like you everyone wants RKBA to achieve success in India but as Bhagat Singh had mentioned
"Angrezo ko Jaagane ke liye dhamaka ki jarurat hai", the current Gun Laws are nothing but Colonial Legacy. If you are not Vocal no one will here you, its a well said thing, "Controversies create cash and Publicity" (I know members might not like my comment here) but my friend this is the truth. Media wont cover you until and unless you provide them with some masala. In todays scenario, if you want to make a statement, you need to involve Media with their TAG LINE, "BREAKING NEWS".
Abhijeet (Mundaire), had told me that Media can cause much damage to you then benefit and i dont deny that point entirely, hence all the moves we pick shall be legitimate and backed by facts. Though this doesn't means that we should take a back seat and suppress our voice. Its all about being expressive, today your loved ones know you care about them because you express your feelings, you let them know that you shall stand by their side no matter what the situation is?
This precise message, we shall send across to the country, that we at IFG care about our country and are willing to provide a opportunity to each and every Law Abiding citizen to Vote for RKBA and enable to protect themselves, their loved ones and the property they have Hard earned.
The amazing video, you and Eternal have put up in You tube, if the same is published in the media, just imagine the awareness it would create. This is what, we shall target at. Getting the Law abiding citizens involved, let them know the path they should walk on, to proudly say that this 26/11 will , Never, Never happen Again, coz we wont let these BASt***d terrorist treat us like PUPPETS.
Ravi.

well it is true and i fully agree with your opinion.penpusher wrote:BJL.
Very lucidly put.
Guns are already in wrong hands. The terrorists in J&K and the North East and the Naxalites.Mr sanjay Kaul should lead a march to convince all these people to surrender their firearms. He off course will not. What about the police which a Supreme Court judge had declared as the best organized criminal group in the country. Also police armories are routinely looted by the anti national elements and help them add to their own store of arms and ammunition.
That figure of 4 crore is a guess at the best.My estimate, not even 20 lakhs and this in the second most populous country in the world. No wonder a criminal can reasonably hope for no armed resistance from his victims. Statistically, his chances of being shot by an intended victim are negligible.Take into account corruption in the police, the public prosecutors office and the judiciary and the drawn out legal process,he has every reason to believe that he can get away with it.

i agree with both of you zake and ravi, however i am pretty sure that if we mix both of your viewswe will have the end result as "the best" .
zake
u have a point here, to connect with the voters of our nation, but how? do u have a "technological" kind of way??? wherein w can use the internet to connect to them ...this will be really appreciated by all of us.
ravi
zake and eternal have done a great job... no dbout !! but can't u and me spread the video or the message across?? let me tell u what i have done, i made and article (copy/paste/edit etc) and attached links of IFG and abhijeets blog and an other link which i found on google , and i mailed it to every contact on my mail. i even created a forum on every orkut community of RKBA. why not even u come up with something more productive than this and share it with us as well. we all will benefit from it .
last but not the least ... UNITED WE STAND, DIVIDED WE FALL
even the media should be forced to pull up RKBA ... maybe for their breaking news and profits... we will benefit any way, our message will be known throughout the horizon.

and in your TECHNOLOGICAL way...only internet cant be used to reach the masses of our country, where less than 10% are computer literate and only 2% use internet.
we need a proper roadmap prepared by intellectual seniors....
United we stand ....Divided ANTIs fall

Re: cnn ibn covers indian gun culture
@dhobal :2% of the people of this country right ?? According to wikipedia the 2009 estimate population is 1,198,003,000
2% of that, is 2,39,60,060 people. That's a lot buddy. If we can get that much. We can win an election.
@ravi : I am sorry if I offended you. See the thing is I am not that emotional. Probably that is the reason I think my way of simple facts and less emotion is the best. It is a bit arrogant, now that I think about it. Sorry mate. But I never said don't be vocal. I just said keep your cool when you are. I personally believe that presenting the frustration we may or may not feel is very beneficial.
@lionheart : How do we connect, right ? See my friend from my POV most of Indians are illiterate about guns. I myself didn't knew the difference between Pistol and Revolver (which is kinda stupid, cause the name pretty much explains it. I felt really dumb when I found out ) a few months back. Apart from the people in IFG I've met guys boasting about their gun knowledge which is gained by playing computer games !!! And general public, everywhere are afraid of what they do not understand. To them guns are killing machines and nothing else. You own a gun means you would like to commit crime and no more.
To connect to these people we must help them understand the philosophy of having a gun. What it means. What it can do apart from just killing. Promoting gun sports is an idea. The youtube guys are working on it. If we can stop the fear we won half the fight.
In my view if we flame antis and they flame us, that's just not attractive to anyone. Most of them know nothing of guns. And who knows if they find out maybe they wont be Anti. I just think we shouldn't fight them with tooth and nails. We do our bits. We say the necessary things. We protest the wrong with facts. And leave it at that.
We needn't convince everyone, like dhobal says 2% . 2% would do. For now.
Hope I didn't offend anyone.

Re: cnn ibn covers indian gun culture
CNN (international) has a major anti-gun bias... so it wouldn't be correct to say that CNN-IBN hasn't picked up anything from it's international counterpart! That said, gents you must not forget that while each news desk (channel/ paper/ magazine) may have it's own bias' (mostly left leaning anti-gun), the fact remains that vast majority of journalists who are actually covering the news are young people who are by and large open to seeing both viewpoints, hell some are even sympathetic to the concept of gun rights! The trick is in how to present them with a "tellable & sellable" story, without inviting drastic edits from their respective newsdesks. Also, one needs to project oneself as a frequent and reliable (NEVER fabricate any facts) "source", no journalist worth his salt would like to needlessly burn a source...
Case in point, the same channel (CNN-IBN) did a fairly balanced story a couple of years back Where Dr. Asif Ali and yours truly were given a chance to freely air their views - http://www.ibnlive.com/videos/21636/tri ... india.html
Cheers!
