Remembering 26/11
Dear IFGians,
It has been a complete years since peace in our country was raped like never before, today lets take few minutes out of our busy lives and take a pledge "No more 26/11" , neither for our country, nor for our loved ones.
Lets pray for the souls of those who lost their lives during the tragic and barbaric 26/11 events last year, may god give their families strength to bear this pain and guide them to come out of it and heals their hearts.

Re: Remembering 26/11
My salute. And my regret not only for the loss of lives, but also for the opportunity. An opportunity lost when we could have turned the nation around, we could have turned the system around so that no more 26/11 happen anymore. And a year later what is left is just the date. 26/11.

Jeff Cooper advocated four basic rules of gun safety:
1) All guns are always loaded. Even if they are not, treat them as if they are.
2) Never let the muzzle cover anything you are not willing to destroy.
3) Keep your finger off the trigger till your sights are on the target.
4) Identify your target, and what is behind it.

Yes, my thoughts are also set on those horrendous times a year ago in Mumbai -- the senselessness and evil of that time are still beyond my understanding. I hope that all who suffered the loss of loved ones may be comforted and that such thing will not occur in India again.

Re: Remembering 26/11
Very well said m24.
But this is built in the system and in people's blood ,sinew and bones.
This post is there since morning , how many replies you see? and how many people actually took time to even think about what 26/11 was? and what it is for people whose near/dear ones were slaughtered and who had to agonize over blood stained body of their beloved, just the imagination is shivering. And they must be going through the same painful memories today.
We have become like this since ages of slow mental cancer, we don't feel anything, we don't aspire anymore, we are becoming a race of zombies ,eating, drinking ,sleeping and walking but not feeling.
Why the blood stopped boiling just after 10th days of 26/11? its not called peace loving people its call testosterone lacking people.
That murderer is still alive and kicking , the conspirators are alive and kicking or probably planning something else by now, and we are back to 9-5.
for those who found it offensive its a nice sign that there is still some life kicking, you are blessed my friend.

Re: Remembering 26/11
I think, the time is for ANGER, Positive Anger....
If people are still not getting engaged then the only way to get them is to get them enraged. Tolerance is good but observing tolerance when Lives are lost, children being orphaned, women widowed is terrible. The problem is as a nation we didnt care (and even today perhaps, we dont). We have become immune to the deaths of our fellow citizen and country men and the sensitivity is lost itself. We need to get that sensitivity back first and then try to light candles, which in true sense will illuminate and show us the positive path.
Aab Bhi Joh Khoon Na Ubala .......... Woh Khoon Nahi Paani Hai....
Joh desh ke Kam naa aaye............ Bekaar Woh Jawani Hai..........
Ravi.

Re: Remembering 26/11
Frankly speaking, eternalme, I don't care how many people read the posts or reply. I do my bit by posting my thoughts. I can only talk about myself. I don't know how many people know about 26/11. I know I do.
Now as for that thing about passiveness in our flesh and blood, I think the common man as such is more worried about the regular day-to-day firefighting, his job, his family. This fight against the apathy by the system can only be raised if it becomes a movement. Why I say the system is because I cannot take decisions for the MHA. I do not work at MHA, nor I know anyone who works at MHA, who takes decisions. I, like you, am just a Stupid common man (Phrase taken from the movie" A Wednesday", which I believe is not far away from reality). But the govt. needs to understand that even the stupid common has a voice.
Remember, Jessica Lal murder case, the voice of the people was heard. Now you may ask, why the voice of the people is not being heard in case of 26/11? The answer is not much noise is being made. The level has to be raised.
Now how to go about it? I don't have an answer right now. But I feel the ball might have started to roll. RTI's, filing your reservations on the online link, the say in Rajya Sabha, and all that. They are all adding up, like small drops adding up to the ocean. Do you know how to move a mountain? You move a mountain by rolling away small stones.
But the idea is never to give up. So the few of us, who do bother, let's keep on doing what we are already doing. Why? Because we have to.
Regards

Salute to those who put themselves in the firing line to protect the life of others, and may the souls of those innnocents countrymen, women and children who were mercilessly killed rest in peace. Instead of lighting candles and organising marathon(s), the authorities and NGOs should come forward to do something positive so as to train and arm citizens to react under such unfortunate circumstances. I did not hear of any Civil Defense classes for citizens, any lessons for civilians for handling weapons, or any special programme organized by govt/NGos. to prepare citizens of country for counter attack by assisting para-military personnels. What is the possibility of this being done? atleast I don't see in near future.... So what were the lessons learnt,... Nothing practical.....Please dont tell me that they created a special force, increased vigil, and strengthened Intelligence gathering, as these things generally for the purpose of show off as I dont think it is practical to provide policemen/armed security personnel for each and evey citizen all the time. The only practical solution as father of nation said "saying no to dependability on others and work towards to be self reliance"

Re: Remembering 26/11
I am researching possibility of being enrolled in civil defense , if some of our volunteers are there in each city (hope) armed to teeth (legally) and responsible, willing to neutralize the threat to our beloved countrymen , things will be better.
Lets not wait on the system for doing training and arming, lets start the movement now, this is the time while still being inside the system and asking the system to adjust according to us and according to what is required today.
Enough of taking militancy as a normal day to day thing, lets do something positive and solid to stop it at howsoever small level we can, one dent so many will sink this devil ship one day.

Re: Remembering 26/11
My deepest respects for all those who fell in not only 26/11 but also the many terrorists blasts that have occurred all over the country. My salute to all those who died protecting them. Having said that,I can now switch off the light and curl myself into my quilt and sleep sweet dreams. No! it is not until a bomb goes off under my bed , will I REALLY feel for those who have lost their near and dear ones. I regret to say this, but only after many such incidents have taken place, testing the patience of the aam junta, only then people will rise from their slumber and cast aside their cocoons. It is only then that the Arms Act will be rectified, only then will the ban on imports be lifted. It is only then that people STONE the nearest politician, that things will CHANGE in this country. Till then Sweet Dreams.

Re: Remembering 26/11
Condolences to all who lost near and dear ones. Salute those who laid their lives in protecting others lives.... But my condolences to all my countrymen for what that happened was a loss beyond repair... A La' 9/11. A handful of people invaded and caused such utter destruction mayhem and terrorized us and terrorized we did get... our way of life has changed since then. Our politicians kept sitting and made just harsh strong statements but nothing concrete...
When else are we gonna react or what more would this country have to go through before we actually do something about being wronged and hurt and harmed.................... When will we do something about punishing the terrorists and their support base....
I think till we get the point across to em that we can and will not take this shit lying down and react with deadly force.. they will not understand and those we lost will never have received true justice....
