Ammo Quota

Post by sa_ali » Thu Nov 19, 2009 11:09 am

Hi

I am not sure if i have the right section in the forum, but i just wanted to ask solution to a problem.
I have 12 Bore license on which i have buy permission of 50 Cartridge and at a time possesion of 25.

Now when i went and asked for increase in quota so that i can purchase for practice, they asked me to produce renowned shooter certificate. I asked how can i practice to even reach that level with quota of 50. They had not reply and said i should borrow

I asked them to keep the at a time possion of 25 and atleast increase the buying quota to 200 so that i can purchase ammo in the National and fire and it there itself.

But they didnt have ans to that.

So what are the legal way out of it. Currently its like you go around beggin sr shooter to sell you some and we use it on the range itself and return the empty.

Ali

agree with eternalme

and
one option is to ask in writing for the increase of ammo giving your reasons with
proof of club membership etc. at the same time mention in your application that you would like a response withing 14 days etc. keep a receipt of the letter or take a second copy and ask them to stamp it as received.

wait your time period and if no response or not a favorable respond then do a RTI. with these questions:

under what section of the arms act can they refuse to grant increase in ammo for sporting purpose.
ask them for a certified copy of any such act/notice.

what is the maximum ammo can be granted? under what section of the arms act /rules, give a certified copy of any such rules.

on what ground a increase in ammo quota be rejected under the arms act/rule. give a certified copy to of any such rules.

and before you know it you will get a call from them :D oh ya my first and last are trick question.

all the best
Nagarifle

if you say it can not be done, then you are right, for you, it can not be done.

eternalme your link is not coming up. i do think that online grievance is good. but how effective would that be in sorting out local problems? even though our grievance are noted down and responded to. this may not be much good. but lets see what happens as it is quick and painless way to be heard.

what the RTI would do is give you the official statement. which can be used direct, if that fails it can help if one wants to go to court.

how to get RTI? do a google search. make application to Home dept. of the state you are in.

one little advise for application for those who want a reply from the concerned authority.

write your application on INLAND LETTER [not an A4 plain paper in an envelope] and mail it with registered post (they dont throw registered mails).

writing in an inland will help in case u seek court action.....as the concerned authority will not be able to state ...THAT THEY RECEIVED AN EMPTY ENVELOPE.....because u dont have a proof of sending "an application" in that Envelope....

and please get your letter photostated before sending.

Rest is as given by learned people above.
Freedom :)
