Am I the only one upset about this? Even though there are no Olympic Berths ... the experience for our shooters would have been great.

You are right,MoA.How are they going to learn better without competing against shooters from rest of the world? Nothing surprising though.

with my limited interaction i've had with the so called shooting patrons in this country (a.k.a. rifle association officials), I'm now sadly aware of the fact that none of them are acting in the interest of the sport. Managing clubs, starting shooting academies is being done not to promote the game but add dough to some select pockets. Money being asked for (read extorted) in the name of annual memberships, life memberships etc does not get followed-up with organising training activities etc. I think these clubs etc are quite aware of the fact that more often than not so called "arm chair AR enthusiasts" approach these clubs for membership with just AR import as objective. What should have been used as an opportunity to add another member in the fraternity by urging them to use their AR and learn the nuances of the game, the clubs etc are quite happy to have another member who is happy to pay life membership without any further interference. Shooting as a sport has become something like "jageer" of these clubs/ individuals and thereby does not get understood by general public. I don't see any reason why shooting should be seen as a "very expensive" sport and therefore meant only for the elite. Why cant ISSF standard competitions be held to promote Indian made air guns??

Why are we even surprised to hear about cancellation of the 2010 championship?? Afterall these competitions are not meant to promote sports or popularise the game, but only to fulfill certain claims which perhaps did not get covered this time.

Man talk about rifle associations being their own jagirs.

It is soooooo dificult to get into some state associations. or to awail any facilities.
