Bolt Action & Semi Auto 12 Bore

Post by ravineet » Sun Sep 27, 2009 8:04 pm

Hi guys,

Recently I happened to visit one of the arms dealer.I saw following two weapons. He did not allow any photos. Both were made in US.

1. He showed me a semi auto 12 bore with capacity of 3+1. He quoted a price of 2.0 lacs.

2. Bolt action 12 bore with a magazine capacity of 7 rounds. quoted price 2.25 lacs.

Request Suggestion: Is it worth buying one of these guns.

semi auto-PB, forget it.
If you get the 7 shot bolt-what is it savage or something? and barrel length, choke etc? and its functionally fit and safe, may be worth bargaining

The bolt gun could be a Marlin Goose gun.If I remember well, they were choked quite tight, full or extra full unless came with adjustable choke.Barrels are quite long too.I don't know what you look for in a shotgun so difficult to tell. IMHO,if it is what I think, Rs 2.25 Lakh is pointless for such a gun.If you could give more details of the make etc, that will help.

Bolt action shotguns are the cheapest repeaters. Even in the Indian context would the quoted price be outrageous. They are strictly cheap utility guns. Something you can leave on the bottom of your duck hunting boat without feeling bad about, or stand in the corner of the barn. Not applicable to you, but that sums up the quality. Of course, for home protection the 7-shot capacity may seem desirable, and that may account for the price asked. Don't buy it. Cheers.

For that kind of monies you can easily pick up a decent Baikal o/u and getting a license for semi auto is close to impossible. Even if you manage to get it , I doubt its price will appreciate since its semi auto and is a restricted license and gun.

Semi auto generally have 4+1 round capacity and are not above 1.5 lacs. Can you please tell the name of the company by which it is manufactured.
