F-INSAS!

Post by jonahpach » Tue Aug 11, 2009 8:53 pm

At the risk of getting a few snickers from co-members, here's something that I found out recently! I think its a good Idea that the GOI is trying to rope in private sector companies in the manufacture of defence related equipment..

While its only mainly electronics related, it's a start anyway!

Sorry, Jonah, looks more like a Tata ad.

And the crux of all our defence related work is aptly summarized in your last statement. "It's a start anyway.." cause that's what it will remain, a start.

Deepak
Jeff Cooper advocated four basic rules of gun safety:
1) All guns are always loaded. Even if they are not, treat them as if they are.
2) Never let the muzzle cover anything you are not willing to destroy.
3) Keep your finger off the trigger till your sights are on the target.
4) Identify your target, and what is behind it.

I remember reading somewhere that the INSAS is 5.45x30mm ? That seems like a wierd caliber.

Yeah... and year by year our Einsteins will research and develop bigger cartridges...until they eventually (re)discover or rather reinvent the 7.62mm... :)

its not 6.6 but the 6.5 grendel produced by alexander arms, one heck of a round.

barrett has the REC 7 in 6.8,there's the LWRC PSD in 6.8.

a few days back i talked to a friend in the SF units he said FINSAS on a whole is a distant dream,he said take for eg- arjun it was on paper in 1972 and you see the results now after almost 40 years and thousands of imported T90's later.

as of now SF units got tavors and recently the m4a1.

cc

About 7.62 check the latest pictures of Brazil police action against the drug lords of their shanty town. Everyother cop had a FAL 7.62, assortment of 5.56 and even the second world war grease machine gun

I agree revert back to 7.62 rifle atleast it has knock out punch..
