Thanks guys.
I did call Air India and they said it should not be a problem but to check with the airport. So I called the airport and they said it should not be a problem but to check with TSA guidelines on their website. So I searched their site and sure enough, I can check in firearms and ammunition in my check in luggage. I have gotten that page printed out, along with the receipt for my pistol purchase and a page with general description about the pistol itself.
Let's see... I'llbe leaving in about a week so will let you guys know what happened!!

I appreciate the offer of you sending a link to any pertinent threads , although I will be keeping an eye on you lot in the future
Due to the horrendous Christmas rush at the moment , I haven't been near my parcel price list sorry, but I haven't forgotten and will post to this thread as soon as the Chaos subsides a little.
One thing I would like to ask everyone, please try not to order anything so close to Christmas expecially for export. I would worry if expensive parcels are sent not to hear about their delivery untill I get back into Work on January 3rd.
Regards

Re: help
Hi Mack The Knife,
Would it be possible to order a 0.22 GAMO through the mail order route? Are the postal authorities very strict about the 0.177 restriction?
Do they permit Combo models, i.e Air Rifles with Scope??

Re: help
Hi Arshad,
You cannot import an air-rifle/pistol in .22 calibre via post or courier. Airguns in this calibre can only be brought back as part of personal luggage - be it yours, a relatives or a friends.
The same applies to any optical sighting aid including riflescopes.
BTW, it would be best if you were member of KSRA (considering you are from Bangalore) if you want to import a .177" calibre air-rifle/pistol.

Arshad,
KSRA details can be found here http://indiansforguns.com/viewtopic.php?t=452
Once you get the form, get police verification done and attach that with the completed form.
Don't worry about the 'proposed by' and 'seconded by' details. I will get that done for you.

Air Pistol to India
Hi All,
This is my debut message.
Iam an Indian citizen holding an Indina national Passport. Currently I am in Germany and I have bought an .177 calibre Air Pistol here in Germany and want it to bring it back to India. I am not a member of any shooting club but will be joining at the earliest.
I would like to know whether I can bring an Air Pistol in my checkin baggage to India.
If yes then I would like to know the procedure to follow and if any problems that I can face.
Needs an expert / experinced advice at the earliest.
Thanks
Mahesh
