It is written :
Shri 3 (teen) Chandra Shamsher Jung
Year 1967 (Is as per Vikram Sambat : Hindu calender. It is a popularly used calendar in India and the official calendar of Nepal)
No. 130
Shri 3 (teen) Chandra Shamsher Jung Bahadur Rana was the fifth Prime Minister of Nepal from the Rana dynasty.
He was born on 8 July 1863, and died on 26 November 1929.
The year marking 1967 (As per Vikram Sambat : Hindu calender ) means 1910 (As per Christian calender).
This is all I know .

Good find Timmy.
That second link brings to my mind that these rifles were owned by the same person, the prime minister, perhaps for a personal unit? Bodyguard or so?

There is a mistake in the 3rd para of this link >>> http://www.militaryrifles.com/Nepal/NPScript.htm
It says '' However, since the Nepalesse calendar is 57 years behind the Western Calendar'', which is incorrect , Vikram sambat / Hindu calendar / Nepalesse calendar is ahead by 57 years from the Western Calender or The Christan calendar. Current Vikram sambat year is 2066.
Plz Correct me if I am wrong .

Re: Nepali Markings
Sudesh & Vikram:
Vikram, I'm a big admirer of the Martini Henry action. The long lever gives good extraction, compared to something like a Rolling Block and the nice striker gives a quick lock time without having a sledgehammer whacking the gun at the time of impact.
I at first thought the gun you linked was one of the long lever Martinis that we'd seen imported here -- evidently, Nepal is cleaning out its stocks. However, like you, I see they had their own production of a similar gun.
Thanks for posting, gentlemen!

You've got me, Sudesh! I'm totally ignorant and illiterate on this!!I never took interest in them. But, now that I stumbled upon them, went through and learnt a couple of things.
