at least we know that consumer courts are not the best options. so the search goes on. back to the courts.

Friends, why stopped discussion...it's very interesting.........shall i proceed in A.P HIGH COURT.....i think its the issue of central.....its better to file in SC. There may be less chances....but hopes r there ....i think court may issue notices to central govt and seeks explanation. But we have to work lot on some issues ... before filing....

1. Proofs regarding time taking (lack of supply) of allottment of pistols through IOF after booking.

2. lack of quality in IOF pistols.

3. possibility of selling desi made pistols(local gunsmiths) by some delaers saying those are imported ones.

4. Revenue gain to Govt. by way of import taxes.

5. The main reasons for putting ban on imports.( i meen advantages to Govt)

please work on the above isuues and gather as much as material.......and leave the rest to me...

1. Proofs regarding time taking (lack of supply) of allottment of pistols through IOF after booking.
Will have to get "Proofs" as certified copies obtained using RTI Act from IOF.
2. lack of quality in IOF pistols.
Something very difficult to prove in the court of law without relevant data from some recognized firearms test laboratory, will have to convince court that greater competition would translate to better quality & prices.
3. possibility of selling desi made pistols(local gunsmiths) by some delaers saying those are imported ones.
Something again difficult to prove in court of law.
4. Revenue gain to Govt. by way of import taxes.
Will have to prove this with data obtained using RTI as to how many firearms "licenses" are issued every year in the country, out of these how many would prefer to import firearms, rather than buy "desi" ones. Will this be a net gain or loss to the government? Because government is already making lot of money by selling overpriced firearms. AFAIK yearly revenue of IOF is 30,000 crores out of which 10,000 crores comes from civilian firearm sales.
5. The main reasons for putting ban on imports.( i meen advantages to Govt)
Crime mainly "terrorism" & threat to national "security" seems to be the excuse of government AFAIK.
Again will have to prove the facts to be the opposite, by getting the data available with Crime Records Bureau using RTI Act as to how many violent crimes including terrorism etc. etc. have been committed using "licensed" firearms imported into the country.

Is it possible for an american citizen to import a NPB weapon into India for the duration of the stay (provided they have procured an Indian license) and then reexport it back to the US when they are leaving?

Basically- bring it with them for the length of stay. Sort of like when you go for a hunt in Africa- export your weapon to whatever country the game reserve is in and then bring it back with you.

Edit- TR is only for Indian citizens living abroad- correct?

Yes. See: http://gunaccessory.com/LAWS/rule_32-36.htm#32
There is a thread by Mehul here: http://www.indiansforguns.com/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=591
He couldn't do it because he is an Indian citizen.

No, its for foreigners too. See: http://www.cbec.gov.in/travellers.htm
"Transfer of residence entitlements are applicable to returning Indians as well as Foreigners transferring their residence to India subject to the fulfillment of prescribed eligibility conditions".

Hi ,
First of all "HATS OFF" to your never ending spirit and the entusiasum i have seen in your posts for supporting these types of threads and initiating some by your self and have seen the contradictory replies to those but still this "Never Die Attitude" is required to carry out a task like this.
For your recent post, i do have some suggestion.

3. possibility of selling desi made pistols(local gunsmiths) by some delaers saying those are imported ones.
[/quote]
Something again difficult to prove in court of law.

In recent posts, i have seen a thread posted by Talluriravi for his HUSQVARNA pistol, which was suspected by the fellow IFGian's to be a case of cheat by the local arms dealer as it had resemblance to a DESI MADE PISTOL, instead of HUSQVARNA. Their is ample of information posted on this thread by other members including some articles from newspaper declaring the Police had confiscated such arms from many other dealers as well.

Meanwhile, can we start a thread (I dont know, if it is done before) through which we can request the support of the members, for "WHETHER or NOT" they are willing to support a petition to lift the "BAN on Import of ARMS". This thread will require just a YES or NO. The purpose is to just understand, how many people are willing to support, again the support wont call for any Commercial Help. Coz, if we are looking forward to file a petition, we need to have a back up of people, who are ready to at least sign the petition. THE NUMBER ALWAYS SPEAKS.

Comments and Suggestions Appreciated.

regards,
Ravi.

Thanks- that doesn't seem doable. Won't ever be a "bonafide tourist." Damn these laws.

Hi Ravi,
Thanks for your observation. I agree with you, to start a thread to get an idea, as to how many people are willing to sign the petition.

Jayanta Mukherjee has posted in thread "Filing a PIL in SC regarding self defense"
(http://indiansforguns.com/viewtopic.php ... 6&start=15)
that he is willing to appear in courts free of charge for PIL on behalf of IFG and also designate senior lawyers free of charge.

Don't you think we should get this website registered as an organization to get the ball rolling out from virtual world into the real world? Having single website and organization will keep costs to minimum, as it would not need to have a separate website.

Or we can revive GFI. We have to make a beginning from somewhere into the real world, cannot stay in the virtual world forever and expect any positive change to take place.

We can make the lawyers who appear for us in courts for free, honorary lifetime members of the organization, since they can help us the most, in matters legal.

PILs are for the interest of public at large not a select group. :deadhorse: this issue

As discussed earlier, Jayanta Mukherjee is ready to file it.....our IFG friend Mr goodboy_mentor knows him, why dont he follow it, can some one give me goodboy_mentor's number, so that i can talk to him, and further to Mr, jayanta (The advocate)....The idea of collecting the money for the PIL, was gr8, I am too ready to give 5,000/- I think, nishant can collect money, and follow it with Mr goodboy_mentor..........??
