Nice to see you back, Kragie. From what I have read on Nitro Express, I wouldn't bother buying Miller's Rigbys even if I had the dosh.

How am I correct? That link shows the S202 TD at close to $14,000.00!
I was pretty sure I had seen them on sale for under $2,000.00 but I am not so sure now.

Re: Your choice of best rifle maker
If I had $5K to throw down, I'd just get two instead. The Sako 85 line up floats my boat. A Safari deluxe in 6.5 swede and a Bavarian in .375h&h. Covers all the game I'd go after. I got sold on Sakos a little while back while shooting a friend's.
If I had 15-20K however, I'd get a double barreled rifle. Not an antique- one of the new ones like
Heym or Krieghoff in .450/400 NE and go get my cape buffalo.
--
PS- or as I look through the for-sale section- I could move to mumbai and buy a BRNO .22 for close to $3k. Damn that import ban.

At Griffin and Howe there is a used
Sauer - 202 - .375 H&H Mag caliber - $2,475.00 which now looks like a steal "
Comments : This is a like-new Sauer 202 Supreme with the extended capacity magazine in the .375 H&H caliber. The rifle had been fired a mere 21 times before the owner offered it up to purchase a double rifle for Africa. Great wood and the high-polish blueing for which the upgraded Sauer rifles are renowned. Talley bases included."

For a new yorker easiest and best gun to purchase is whatever sold at Beretta Galleria. I had all kind of issues with FFL etc with my last purchase or one can go to Kimber in Yonker later should also be an interesting place.

Re: Your choice of best rifle maker
I have been to Beretta a few times, made a friend there too at premiere gun sales. Since I've taken such a liking to Sako, I'm eventually going to get the safari in 6.5 swede. But I'll be in India for almost 10 months starting September, so no point picking it up now and then storing it. Will get it when I'm back. Planning a feral pig hunt in Texas for December.

Good luck with the trip, if I bought another Beretta gun after my White Onyx Shotty I will be offending my friend Baba Mehul. LOL
Have you ever gone to Griffin and Howe or Holland and Holland showroom?
Mack The Knife
Even I was surprised sounds like distress sale

Thanks mate. Visited the H&H showroom- its a good exercise in looking at lots of beautiful pieces completely out of budget. Haven't been to Griffin and Howe. Why would you offend Baba ji? Because you love the onyx or hate it?

I am quite happy with my Onyx - its Beretta made rifles he has some apprehensions but I am joking. Mehul is a walking encyclopedia about Rifles and firearms, again the best gun is one you own, afford and easily legally procure. I always recommend to folks to visit Beretta Galleria especially when one has to burn hours waiting for paperwork at Indian Consulate. This place is literally around the corner. The guys are really nice ran into an ex-marine salesman who had participated in Indo-Us exercise in Goa. Had pretty candid opinion about INSAS.

Re: Your choice of best rifle maker
It is indeed a good way to pass the time when on the upper east side. I don't really consider the Sako et al, Beretta "made"- since Sako is still producing them in Finland. The only time I've used a rifle actually made by Beretta was a collectors AR-70. But an assault rifle is an assault rifle.
PS- Baba Mehul's account is still deactivated since the board switched hands- why so?
Best,
