Hitchhikers and their ilk..

Post by jonahpach » Fri Jul 10, 2009 11:50 pm

A recent foray into the interiors in Mizoram had me and my driver camping on the outskirts of the very fishing village where my pickup had crashed last year. The next morning we drove into the village and on stopping at the nearest teashop we discovered this bug*3r neatly coiled up on the chassis of the pickup...

Would have ended up in the pot had I not been a recogised wildlife rehabilitator.. (It's a reticulated Burmese/Myanmarese?? python by the way)

Good work Jonah.

To come across snakes in unexpected spots is a pretty common occurrence up in the North East. Snakes gravitate towards food and heat ( the warm chassis in this case). And yes they do get eaten :D , that too is a pretty common occurrence, as do monitors.

Interesting as Burmese Pythons are becoming a nuisance in Florida, where they are not a native species.

I guess the larger ones eat deer and alligators, and that is a bit too large for my comfort level!

Well done Jonah!

Besides pythons, Floridans have a problem with alligators too. On cold days they look under their cars for basking gators lest their feet get mistaken for easy prey

Heck I only know how to boil eggs and make an omlette... I also hate fish and all other things that have scales on them. Sorry!
