High power vs low power (air rifle)

Post by tirths » Fri Jul 03, 2009 11:55 am

I haven't found any high power gun winover low power gun at 30 meters. I am comparing springer with springer and PCP with PCP.

Any idea why?

Tirths

This is like chewing coconut. One has to swallow it to stop the chewing.

How low is low power ? For .177 at 30 (32 yds) mtrs, a springer or PCP with 8 grain pellet that does 820fps.
Zeroed at 27yds, will make half inch groups from 12 yds to 30 yds. Thats how flat they shoot.
If a "high power" giving 1000fps is used, nothing in the above changes.

Here is a 1000 word picture.

As an example of overcoming adversity, Karoly Takacs has few peers. He was part of Hungary’s world champion pistol-shooting team in 1938, when an army grenade exploded, crippling his right hand. Ten years later, having taught himself to shoot with his left, he won two gold medals in the rapid-fire class.

Tirths

High power and accuracy has no relation. One will come across high power, inaccurate air guns and low power, highly accurate (FWB700) air guns as well. Accuracy is determined by barrel and pellet.
