I'm talking about the repeaters made by Beretta and Walther; with 493 ft/sec of muzzle velocity, they hurt better than an Indian-make air pistol.

.177 & .22 lack something called "stopping power". A powerful crossbow has a better stopping power than stopping power of legally permitted airguns. Crossbows seem better option as compared to airguns.

Who ever is thinking or advising using any type of non-lethal airguns for self defense need to get his brains checked. If you search this forum you will find a news report about a road-rage incident in Delhi where somebody got killed because he took out his gun but was not fast enough and got shot and mind you that was a real gun not a replica.

You are better off with pepper spary than any kinds of replica's

I'm not RiffLord; it's RottLord. I sent u a PM David and a call would do good to both of us. I still suggest that you go for a co2 .177; at least, that hurts more than a blank firing replica.

Man David, go for a .177 CO2, blank firing rounds cost as high as Rs.120 a round; with that money, u can fire over 60 shots with a co2 gun.

From a self defence view point and air soft or blank firing pistoal is about as effective as a photograph of a .50 DE.

Then again...

I say go through the legalities and paperwork to get a real gun. With either a blank firing gun or an airsoft you are just asking for more trouble, in a self defense scenario.

No its not when comes to self defense. Apply for a license or do yourself a favor and buy a pepper spray for 150 INR.

They are not lethal. They may hurt a bit and that's it.Shooting with an air pistol in a self-defence situation is as others said inviting greater trouble. You still want to have it for SD,get one.

Most co2 pistols like the Beretta shoot at about 330 fps. Which will just about sting, normally an attacker is pumped with adrenalin, consider the fact that many haven't fallen to real bullets in such a case. So an air pistol will be even worse. Get an air pistol for fun by all means but not to save your life. I'm not sure how customs treats a blank firing gun, while any company may send you one customs is still a grey area.

Guys, I'm going to wait till my license arrives but not sure whether I shall go for a foreign-made revolver; they are priced too high.

Imagine if this one (my fav) was allowed here
