.310 rifle

hi guys.
is it ok to fire .32 ammo in .310 rifles.does the bullet fit properly?

I doubt a 32 revolver cartridge would be safe to fire in a 310 Cadet rifle. . 310 bore ammo is more closer to a
32-20 winchester round but dont try to fire the 32-20 ammo in the 310 cadet rifle

If you are in Delhi try calling up dealers you might find some old 310 bore ammo...the only problem it would be fairly expensive since its really hard to find and there would be no gurantee if it will fire or not.The ammo was introduced way back in 1901 .But no harm trying.

Don't try firing .32ammo in a .310. Not a good idea. The 32 (S&W Long) fits loosely in the chamber and thats bound to present all kinds of problems ranging from annoying to dangerous.

I'm currently doing a minor refurbishment on a WW Greener Martini 310 wall hanger.... the owner asked me the same thing. Hes has only 4 original rounds left.

If you mean the WW Greener 310...yes. Its basically a scaled down martini-henry single shot action

Don't. Both case and bullet are undersized. .32 groove/bullet diameter is about .315"; .310 Cadet is .322". Case is enough smaller that it will split upon firing. Cheers.

my cousin has a .310....he used to fire .32 in it...
never faced problems with that.But he got around 150carts of .310 now.

I believe like .351 and .401 cal. .310 cal. is also an obsolete ammo then how did your cousin manage to get .310 ammo.I need ammo for .351 If u can help????

The little .310 ammo that can be sourced in India is very old stock...perhaps even predating independence. The Greener 310 was 'widely' marketed in India during the Raj. The RB. Rodda & Co 1930 catalog lists the 310 rifle at Rs.100/-! The same rifle in 32-40 was also available at Rs.100

... that may explain how very old ammo still surfaces once in a while.

Going OT, just for kicks, the Mannlicher Schonhauer rifles for sale on another thread are listed in the 1930 catalog at Rs.185! It may have been a lot at that time...but the prices still bring a twinkle to the eye...

yupp.thats true.
But still he somehow managed to get it.He has been shooting since 25years so has made up some contacts.
I will check about .351 ammo.I think i will be able to get some carts.
I will be free with my exams by 23rd june,then i will try to brush up some contacts to get your ammo.

Are you sure about what your relation said? Because I find it hard to believe that an obviously incorrect, if not unsafe practice is purported as 'no-problem'...while I'm not accusing you or your relation of exaggerating or anything derogatory, I'm more inclined to believe that there is some confusion somewhere along the line.

Perhaps the 310 in question was worked on long ago by some gunsmith to accept .32 ammo? or may be its a 32-40 that was 're-stamped' locally for an unusually advantageous circumstance?

The virgin state extractor on the Greener 310 simply slips off the undersized rim of the .32 casing....unless it was modified otherwise.

Just a few thoughts.

i just checked with him about the .310/.32 issue.He still ocasionally fires .32carts in it.No change were made in his weapon to accept the .32 rounds.
I my self have fired .32 & .310 carts from his rifle.
Your post made me realise that due to immense use of his rifle ,maybe it has started accepting the .32carts easily.
I have empty shells of both .32 & .310 fired from that weapon.I will post the pics.


Another interesting thing about .310 carts is that they are not having any metal jacket as found in other carts.
They have pure lead bullets as .22lr
