It's been a pleasure - thank you all

Post by mundaire » Thu May 21, 2009 10:14 am

I know many of you have more than a few questions swimming in your mind - regarding why IFG went offline, why I handed over ownership to someone else etc. I hope through this post I'll be able to satisfy the collective curiosity of everyone here.

As some of you may know since late last year (when my business tanked) I've been on an extended sabbatical. However, just like everyone else I too cannot afford to indefinitely ignore my personal & financial responsibilities and towards this end I have involved myself in a new business venture.

Unfortunately this means that for the foreseeable future I will no longer have the time required to run this website or for that matter the GFI agenda, hence my decision to pull the plug. It was not a sudden decision, I've been putting this off for months now, but could simply not afford to do so any longer...

Since the time I decided to take the board offline, I've been directly/ indirectly contacted by scores of members here, with innumerable offers of help etc. and to these individuals I'd like extend my heartfelt thanks for their kind gestures.

In the interests of keeping the website going, I've finally decided to hand over ownership of this board to one of the member's who has contacted me offering to help. The process of handing over ownership to him and shifting the website to his hosting account has been completed and as of the past several days I am no longer the owner/ administrator of IFG. AND NO, the website was NOT SOLD to someone, IFG is a community not some commercial portal and I would never presume to "SELL" this community! The new owner was picked as I felt he could best run things while keeping the IFG spirit alive.

For now the new owner wishes to remain anonymous and will probably chose one more/ members here to help him run the forum etc.

As far as I am concerned, I will remain on board as a member, and may occasionally check in and even make a post or two on threads of my interest - however my participation would be infrequent at best.

GFI: I have asked Mr. Mangla to mail/ courier back the donation/ subscription cheques that were sent in for GFI.

In the end I'd just like to say, that it's been a real pleasure running this website for the past 3 odd years, I've made some great friends here and learnt a lot from the collective wisdom of the IFG membership.

I wish the IFG community and the new owner the very best... thank you all for not letting the flame die :)

Cheers!
Abhijeet

Abhijeet:

First of all, I want you to know how much pleasure I have derived from IFG. You have put the sweat and the money into this, and I have reaped the benefit. Thank you so much for this. I also salute you for the way that you have run the board, in that you have remained true to the ideal of gun ownership rights and have not compromised with commercial interests to accomplish the founding of this board. I also hope that you will remain active here.

Secondly, to the individual or individuals who have assumed Abhijeet's mantle, thank you also. I must say that, while there are many gun forums on the www, this site is unique in the atmosphere of civility.

Finally, Abhijeet, these are tough economic times, and I wish you an extra degree of good fortune in your new endeavor.

Dear Mundaire :)
A fine gentleman and blessed you are for beginning the IFG venture. This extends beyond to several others who have found great wisdom and life long friends.
Apart from nurturing a fraternity, the openness of discussion and database of knowledge has and is of immense help to one and all. many thanks to you for this.

I only hope you had opened up a bit earlier, and I am sure every member here would have supported you by taking over the responsibilities and/or in monetary help. However, I am sure you have made the best choice in handing over the baton. Many congrats and warm support to the new admin.

It is good to know you will still be amongst us, and look forward to learning more from your expertise.
