Thanks for sharing. Nothing against you,but, videos like that make me sick.Pitting animals against each other that way for fun make my blood boil.Right,that's the tree hugger/bunny lover in me. Sorry.

It's not a recent one...........it was made at a time when my grandfather would be a teenager .It was the privilege of kings & rich families. Anyway it's legally prohibited now..........or is it????

Doesn't matter if it's made ages ago, a bit obvious isn't it? My grandfather and his father hunted tigers.It's not the hunting that made me angry. It's pitting animals against each other that way.

Anyway it's legally prohibited now..........or is it?

The use of animals as aid for hunting had started millions of years ago. The evolution of human beings along with the hunting skills had perfected this technique of using animals for hunting (Dogs, Eagles,...). I believe it is still practiced today(I recently saw a National Geographic Program on a hare chase using blood hounds in the United Kingdom... ). Depending on each individual species, Animals do have senses which are well developed than that of humans. I totally agree that on one side it would be the brutal killing of the hunted. But on the other side it makes hunting much easier and also keeps the hunters warned about other threats. Believe it or not the skills acquired by dogs to seek out a prey would actually train it to seek out a human during a search & rescue operation!!!.But dogs like hounds are mainly bred for hunting purposes.

I don't think this process is going to be stopped anywhere in the world.....

Well Both.

There are more than enough Laws & Law enforcers to prevent hunting of any sort in India by its law abiding citizens. The irony is that there are no system to prevent the LAW ENFORCERS from not doing it themselves or letting other do it for financial gain......

I fail to see the connection between dog coursing and making a tiger and a lion to fight in a pit.Are you trying to tell me that such fights help increase the hunting skills? BTW, Lurchers, Fox Hounds etc are/were used in hunting in UK.Not Blood Hounds.Blood Hounds are/were used in USA mostly for an entirely different sport.

Somehow the impression that I got was that the lion and the tiger ending up in the pit was purely by chance.The expedition seems to be aimed at catching tigers or the lion that had been sighted in the area.Correct me if I am wrong.

This is not the video i talked about. I am sure it the country was united kingdom although about the blood hounds i don't know if its accurate (not an avid dog fan!)

When i mentioned about the use of hunting skills for improvement of senses, i meant it for canine animals only, not for lions or tigers....

Today's people use dogs because they cant get there hands on other special(read endangered) animals. What i meant was, human beings tend to use what ever they could use whether it be for a living or for fun.....

Romans used gladiators(human beings) for a "fight to finish" just for sport(fun???)....if they treat human beings like that, how do u expect they care for tiger pitting against a lion?

i believe in many places snakes & mongoose are shut together in a cage for entertainment....

Even though not in a scale matching the above ones......in India especially in south India, rivalry between two villages are STILL settled via cock fight(even though it's banned)
