hi

Post by simar » Sun Apr 12, 2009 1:03 am

Well, I found this place randomly and figured i'd join. I spend most of my time in ontario and michigan. I will eventually need to get myself a firearms license in India as well since my grandfathers rifle and shotgun and pistol are still there. Will need some guidance on this eventually :)

I'd like to know if IPSC is popular anywhere and if anyone is into longrange (bisley 1000yard) discipline? These are my primary disciplines for target shooting. I currently shoot ipsc in production division with a sig p226 in 9mm, and a sig p220 in .45. I have shot ipda with a hk p7m8. I shoot 600y service rifle matches with a m1a chambered in 308win and an ar15 223rem, and 1000y with a savage ftr rebarraled to 6.5 creedmoor.

Currently a member of the following:
Double action range (michigan)
BRRC (rifle and pistol range in burlington)
ORA (longrange rifle ranges in ontario)

Regards,

Simarjeet

Welcome aboard Simar, hope you enjoy your stay here :)

IPSC is pretty much unheard of in India, the only shooting matches conducted here adhere to the ISSF rulebook.... so the longest range rifle event is the 300m "big bore" event, which to the best of my knowledge is only held at the National Championships (there being very few venues which have the required range length).

Cheers!

I am fairly passionate about rkba and taking good care of all my firearms. Anyone care to tell me which of my calibers are prohibited so i don't bother bringing the to india? also if any of the rifle calibers are available what's the likelihood of finding decent reloading components for them?

Simar

Run a search on the forum for prohibited bores and you will have the required info. In nutshell gun import was banned in 1984 so I am afraid you probably cannot bring any of your guns. Unless off course you consider transfer of residence then only one gun is allowed. 9mm Luger (9x19), .45 ACP and 38-200 (.38 S&W) are banned although .38 Spl, .380 ACP, .38 ACP, .357 Mag, .45 Colt, .44 Mag (and all other pistol calibres) are allowed, in rifles .303 British, 7.62 NATO are banned and all else is allowed. All Semi auto long guns are also considered prohibited.

best
