Those are great pictures and thanks for sharing.

I read some where Manatee are killed by boat propellers. But whats the worst is release of "exotic" pets such as python, boa, iguanas in Florida which have multiplied and reached a tipping ecological point. I saw a photo of a decent sized iguana basking in some ones back yard.

By the way few years back there was a sighting of a manatee in Hudson river.

Took my three and a half year old for a bit of 'sport fishing' at a resort down south. Anyway the pond was kind of overcrowded with fish so catching one was not a problem. The only hard part was watching the poor fish suffer as the guy un-hooked it from the line. The hook would often pierce the eye and tear the upper lip. After two such catches I was quite disgusted and quite ashamed that my young son was witness to this so we quit. I feel its very important to instill a sense of compassion towards any living being into our children. With all the worlds forests and animals dwindling it's something we must teach our kids. Please don't get me wrong here but I love guns and knives and so does my kid. I come from a background where hunting was a norm. I would definitely not mind my child hunting if he had to survive on it for some reason but would discourage him to do it for any other reason. Shoot a target is my advice to him.

These sports involve blood and one cannot be squeamish. These is a right way and a wrong way of taking the hooks out while fishing and it also depends on the rod and hooks or whether you guys were following catch and release. Agree one should do it the humane way be it fish, animal . Just look up on Indian angler website and fishing posts here and maybe you can go out with an experience angler and gain form the outing.

Gator Feeding & Wrestling
The two dudes fed gators - there were over 70 in this pond and the gators get within 5 feet of you. Strange animals, the food needs to be thrown to their side of them and then they grab and trash, you can, and the two dudes did, throw it right on their snout and they will not bite it, for some reason they cannot respond or sense it. Could also be that they are fed by all tourists with hot dogs all day!

Crocodile Dundee - gator wrestling. The two dudes wrestling real gators.
The mouths are taped shut with common electrician tape. For some reason even though the gators have huge power crushing when biting down they do not have the same power to open their jaws.

Hunt in Texas Today
Hunted Sitka deer and Angora sheep in Texas with my two sons and my nephew. My nephew is the little dude in camouflage. We arrived late in the evening and after a dinner of Elk ribs and Cheetal / Axis deer pot roast, beans and rice hit the bed.

In the morning we woke to snow fall. Unreal, it is March and snowing in Texas.

Had to Borrow a Warm Jacket - Global Warming? More like Global Cooling - Snow in Late March in Texas!
We went to the stand before sun up, it was very cold. Saw plenty of pigs and some Texas Dalls and Desert Paint sheep. Wanted to shoot something that could make a nice rug. At around 8.30 we had breakfast, biscuits, sausage, pancakes and toast, and then decide to drive around the ranch in a old Surbaban that was painted in a Zebra motif.

First we found three Sitka does and tried to stalk up to them with no success. it was windy so we could get close but the brush was very thick and they were very spooky. Finally we guessed which direction they would move in and cut them off. One 30.06 165 grain from the Brno topped with a Leupold variable and it dropped like a stone. Its fur was shedding as it was changing to a summer coat so unless I wanted a rug that looked like a mangy dog I would have to hunt for something else. Luckily the ranch hand is very fond of Sitka meat, would be expensive to air freight it back to California.

We discussed it for a while and the guide said he had seen a big Angora that was close to white in one part of the ranch. Several hunters had hunted for it without much success so off we went. We glassed and stalked a couple of Angoras but they were not the one he wanted me to get. Finally we saw him in an open meadow. I had him drop me and my two sons and then drive off in the opposite direction to then return from a direction that would spook him towards us. Worked like a charm, he angled towards us and the Brno kept its record of one shot kills. Hit hard its front legs buckled and down it went.

The boys saw it all and were elated. They also found a couple of empty casings on the ranch and played pool. By the end of the day everyone was beat.

I hope they will also develop a love for the outdoors. they like fishing and I am introducing them to hunting. They are slowly developing a respect for guns, they have a few BB's and Air Soft guns

Decide to take them to hunt in Texas because you are likely to have some success and it is important they do not get frustrated. In Oct my elder son are going to hunt Black Bear in Oregon with a guide who uses hounds. Hope we get a bear.

Turkeys definately are lousy eating,Every year during turkey season I don't even bother to buy a tag even though I can drop one in my back yard.I would suggest you fry the turkey to get better results,Incidently they taste almost exactly like peacocks.
