Exemption from depositing Arms during elections
I have found out that the exemption from deposit of firearms during elections isn't just for NRAI members but for members of State Rifle Associations that are affiliated to the NRAI as well.
To take benefit of this exemption, the licence holder should (suitably modify and) print out the attached proforma (Exemption_from_arms_deposit.pdf), submit a copy duly filled in, along with a print out of the notification (exemption_order_deposit_of_arms_n_ammunition.pdf) plus photocopies of the Arms Licence AND State Rifle Association membership card to their respective licencing authority.

Cheers!

Re: Exemption from depositing Arms during elections
hello everybody
sad to say because of the strike by lawyers in TN, i could not put up a writ in the madras high court quoting the allahabad HC verdict. needless to say it is bye bye for my weapons till the elections are over. hopefully we should be able to overcome this before the next election.

Hi Everybody!
1> Does anybody here know if the Karnataka State Rifle Association is affiliated to the NRAI?
2> If a temp annual membership enough a criteria for exemption from deposit of firearms during elections?
3> Would also like to know if one could take benefit of this exemption even before purchasing a fire arm.
4> Is the exemption going to be endorsed on the Arms Licence? Please advise.

Re: Exemption from depositing Arms during elections
Somebody please help me with this as my first annual KSRA membership is going to expire this November end and as of now KSRA is closed for renovation and is'nt going to open before January 2010. Or does this apply only to permanent members of KSRA (i.e. if KSRA is affiliated to the NRAI)? Advise regarding this would be much appreciated.Ticky wrote:Hi Everybody!

Re: Exemption from depositing Arms during elections
KSRA is indeed affiliated to the NRAI, and this exemption would apply to annual as well as life members.
Cheers!

I heard rumours that the airgun was confiscated by a sub inspector and was later released by the DSP.

I just checked with KSRA. We are not KSRA members
We have complementary use of the range for one year, after which we can apply for membership.

Re: Exemption from depositing Arms during elections
Hi, Im from Punjab & have read in media/newspapers that Govt. is requesting Licensed Gun users to deposit their arms for elections.
Now, I wanted to know that is it mandatory for all licensed gun users to deposit their arms with the police or can these be kept with oneself only?
I mean, if these are kept at home or in locker, is it ok?
What do the laws say?
Thanks,
-32
PS: I guess I have posted in the right section!

Thanks for that info Lazybones. I thought as much when I could not find a membership number on the card. Anyways, are you still going to KSRA during the weekends (for the air rifles, I mean)?lazybones wrote:Ticky:
