This is just one of the many fake lists doing the rounds.
Nothing official is out yet. But wouldnt be surprised if it is along the lines posted.

I doubt if it will have any effect in India, since most of the weapons on that list are impossible to get, or plain old banned.

Let me tell you guys.... In India we are much better off then the people in most of the countries in the world. Especially in Europe,South East Asia and S. America. There are places like Malaysia and Thailand where one needs a fire arm license even for air gun pellets. Most of the American states need CCP and the stuff. Where as in here at least we are not burdened to this extend once the fire arm license is issued. This is not only my view but of many who've been license holders from decades here in our INDIA. Let's just hope if at all it doesn't improve, the situation remains as it is.

but in india needful dont get the right stuff. every tom dick harry can get license in india and do mistakes and ridiculous blunders which in turn harms knowledged persons and the needful.

so government is bound to restrict the law so as to reduce the foolish mistakes.
there is a very little no of responsible gun owner in india at least in M.P.

I really wouldn't consider India "better off" in any sense of the word... semi-autos even rimfire and shotguns are PBs and it is difficult if not near impossible to get a permit for one, the choices of what is legal is very limited both in terms of quantity and as well as variety,the locally made stuff is absolute junk but still sells for many times the price of what a decent (similar) product (firearm or ammo) would cost even in relatively expensive markets like Europe, the arms licensing process is totally opaque and a daunting task for most... the list is endless.

The result, even a city like Delhi with 15 million plus residents - has only 55,000 or so licensed gun owners...

Sitar the problem is hardly what you mention, quite the contrary the problem is that every tom dick and harry CANNOT get a license without bribing someone or using connections! All we are doing is pushing guns underground, as a result (by most estimates) over 90% of firearms in India are held illegally... that my friend is the problem. These are the guns used in crime, licensed firearms are involved in only a minuscule number of criminal cases.

We (legal gun owners) are part of the solution and not part of the problem - lets not forget that...

I agree with Abhijeet. As a percentage, the number of licensed/legitimate firearms owners in India is miniscule compared to that of USA inspite of our population being more than 4 times that of the USA. However the assinine reaction of banning/making licensing extraordinarily difficult in obtaining legal firearms to the ordinary citizen everytime a firearm is used in a crime should end. If a criminal/Maoist (naxalite) uses a firearm to bump off someone, what use is it banning my legitimate firearm? The media has to be educated regarding this issue.

Only if the laws are changed to give less leeway to the Licensing Authorities by way of arbitrary/discretionary powers in granting licenses can this be changed. In effect a "shall issue" kind of situation. Unfortunately, considering the "less than perfect" verification process and the relative ease with which bribery/political influence can get even a criminal a license, I dont see that happening very soon.
Quite a few things will have to have changed in India before our issue is addressed. But we must not give up the fight.
