Name HydNawab
Some members recently asked me why I have chosen the id HydNawab. This is because my great grand father was Nawab Fazal Nawaz Jung Bahadur.Information about him can be found on
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fazal_Nawaz_Jung
My grand father was an IAS officer, Syed Arif Sajjad who passed away when he was 40 years old.My grandmother, Dr.Qudsia Sajjad is an IMS officer and retired in 1991.
One clarification about this is that there are two kinds of nawabs.'Paidaishi Nawab' which is born nawab and 'Khitabi Nawab' or nawabi that is attained.Nawab Fazal Nawaz Jung Bahadur was a khitabi nawab and the nawabi ends with him.His heirs are not nawabs, but still I kept the name HydNawab.
I hope this answers the members questions.
Cheers
Ashar

Yaj,
Hes not related to us but Nazeer Yar Jung is a very close family friend. He used to work in Voltas company and had hundreds of dogs.Hes has very good knowledge of guns as well. The last time I met him, he had a CZ model 2 .22 rifle, a 12g DBBL William Powell and a 450/400 by either Rigby or H&H.Dont remember that well.
In fact he had presented a pocket watch belonging to Khurshid Jah Bahadur to my dad.It was made by Hebdomas patent 8 days watch. It was specially made for him.The watch happens to be in my possession right now.
Cheers

Ahh... there are already 3-4 pages about him in a book called Pictorial Hyderabad by K.Krishnaswamy Mudiraj.Hes also mentioned in another book called 'The Fabulous Mughal' by a parsi gentleman, i forget his name(Will have to look it up). Its about the Asaf Jahi dynasty in Hyderabad and how they came to power.I just love the last chapter which is an interview with HEH The VIIth Nizam of Hyderabad Osman Ali Khan.
Forgot to mention that he died of a heart attack on 15th August 1964 at the parade grounds in Secunderabad and was given a state funeral.I have heard from my mother that he was a very close friend of Raja Bahadur Venkatarama Reddy O.B.E and Moin Ud Dowla Bahadur.
Thats all I know about him. Will put up some pictures tomorrow.

Re: Name HydNawab
Yaj and HydNawab,
I am a die hard fan of Nawab Nazeer Yar Jung. My doberman was placed by him in a show and his critics about my dog were great. The next meeting with him was however not very good for me. He literally blasted me for having made my dog fat. Asked me if I wanted to show my dobe with the rottweilers.......had to put up a sorry face. Have picked up a lot from him though. Every minute spent with him was so very enriching. Yaj, not sure if you have seen him handle dogs in the ring. I had the privilege of seeing him handle a dachshund and a setter a few times. Put a lot of the younger guys to shame.

"Name HydNawab".... I some how always liked that name Ashar . Atleast you had a reason to have Hyd Nawab as ur chat name. But I do wonder what made Anupam write OLLY. It could be indeed interesting to know what one had in mind when we chose our identities here .NM ...you don't need to explain I have already guessed it !!
