PAINTING IHP NATIONAL 0.177 AIR PISTOL STOCK
Hi,
This is a continuation work on my air pistol after it was broken. I have already posted the steps taken for repairing the stock. It can be found in IFG Gun Care & Gunsmithing section. The link is given below.
FIXING IHP NATIONAL 0.177 AIR PISTOL STOCK : http://indiansforguns.com/viewtopic.php?f=22&t=5907
Let me thank my fellow IFG member MO for providing the following articles and inspiring me to do the work myself.
1. How to: Painting your Rifle Stock - Picture Heavy : http://indiansforguns.com/viewtopic.php?f=22&t=5022
2. Custom Painted Diana 52 : http://indiansforguns.com/viewtopic.php ... 67&start=0
The steps followed by me are similar to that as mentioned in the above threads.I am not saying that the work i did is as good as what MO had done, but the end result is more than gratifying. It is actually a very simple D.I.Y. project. Please take all necessary SAFETY PRECAUTIONS before you try it .
I used NIPPON MATT BLACK Aerosol paint, which cost me INR 150.
I couldn't get my hands on BOSNY AEROSOL as it was currently unavailable then. I got BOSNY BLACK FLAT Clear coat for INR 200.
There is nothing much detailed explanations to give. I am posting the pictures taken during the paint job. I don't have a proper camera and this was taken with my N3230. I regret the picture quality.
After the first coat
No pictures were taken in between the first and the final coating. These pictures were taken at night a couple of days after the clear coat was applied.
Any questions, comments or suggestions are at most welcome.

Hello shadowphaxone,
You can also coat it with "Laquer" it will give a glossy finish as well as protect from moisture...
Thanks.

THANK YOU RAJ!!!
Since you have posted INDIA as your location, I cannot guide you to any shop in particular. The best chance for you in finding aerosol paint is to look for it in LARGE (WHOLE SALE) PAINT SHOPS in your city. It may also be available with larger shopping malls. The price will entirely be dependent on that particular shop. The following links may help...

"Lacquer" is a new term for me. I searched and found it on the net. I was not actually interested in getting a "GLOSSY" finish. That is exactly why i chose MATT BLACK & BLACK FLAT CLEAR, so that i have a plain surface. I believe that extra smoothness may affect GRIP and in turn affect shooting accuracy. Any way you are correct about "Lacquer" giving additional water resistance.sagar wrote:Hello shadowphaxone,

Isn't really wonderful (AWKWARD & CRAZY???) to meet people who live in the same place via internet.
You should try SHANTHA PAINT HOUSE, Pulimoodu Junction, Opposite G.P.O., Thiruvananthapuram. Most of their sales person are ignorant about aerosol paints.but they are really helpful and will redirect you to a knowledgeable person. So, if you happen to visit, be patient and ask for BOSNY or NIPPON Aerosol Paint. They do have a separate section for Nippon Aerosol at the side entrance of the shop.
Please P.M. me if there are any activities related to Airguns or Shooting sports in our city. (P.S. i only have an air pistol with me.)
