Well amongst other places, in Newsweek a couple of issues ago. Though more in the context of Russia.warthog wrote:moa you didn't replied to my PM.from where have you heard about special processing areas?
The widespread usage of the term 'Summer of Wrath/Discontent/Fury' in a global context worries the hell out of me.

Warthhog,
Not being in India, I do have serval guns, sufficient ammunition and supplies to make my ammo. [serval rifles, shotguns and handgguns and suppressors]
I certainly am not paranoid, nor am I a right wing nut, or someone dreaming of saving a busload of playboy models, standing ankle deep in shell casings while driving off a hoard of zombies.
However of late I do like the comfort on knowing that I can reach for a weapon in a matter of seconds if required.
I really do not like what I seeing in the news, hearing on the radio or reading in the media. Everyone is talking about a summer of rage, from the US Govt to the IMF. By all accounts Obama has now raised the US Bailout to about $9.3 trillion, while in the UK Brown has begun quantitative easing. Neither look workable to me.
And in case you were wondering just how much is a trillion

I might be an Indian from birth but i am a true American from my soul. Best of luck, the fate of the world rests on your kind.Defeat them and there is going to be freedom otherwise its going to be worse than hell. yes since I've been to hell and back.

Re: massive gun shortages in US,people are arming up!
Well, yes, people are buying guns. But anything in the popular press should be taking with a liberal dose of salt. Afterall, it has to sound sensational. There are still plenty of guns in the racks, though some guns are in short supply, or unavailable. But that has always been a problem here, guns are in the catalog for years, but not available. Mainly, people who had wanted a certain gun for years, but couldn't really justify the purchase, now decided that they might not get another chance if they waited any longer. What really did happen, though, was that reloading supplies, cases, bullets, powder, primers, also ammo, were gone from the shelves within two days of Lightning's election victory. Almost like magic. The years to come should be interesting. There will no doubt be attempts made to pass laws to require micro stamping, serial-numbered ammunition, "safer" bullets, and other such nonsense; classify ammo as "hazardous substance", all in the name of consumer safety. If the front door is barred, try climbing in the window. All in all, things don't bode well. Cheers.

Warthog: Nope not in the US, nor am I a american. Just a good old proud to be Indian, living in Europe.
TwoRivers: The popular press of MSM is not really covering the extent of the decline. Google up Tent Cities, Summer of Rage or go onto sites like wikileaks or infowars.com and it will frighten you.
Even here in 'socialist' Europe gun sales are up, and people are talking about a global unrest, what ever that means.
Stuff like serial numbering bullets, microstamping et al cant work. Just as the CIA/NSA cant read every single email sent. Physically impossible to do.
Its like the recent handgun bullet database in the UK. Where they want to build a database of the markings of bullets fired from handguns. Good in theory... only problem being Handguns are completely illegal in the UK.
Is trouble coming? My guess is yes. All the turmoil that we have seen is primarily due to the housing markets. Now that businesses are going under, we will get the commerical mortgage tsunami. Some governements like that in the UK have begun quantitative easing, which essentially means print up money and put it in the market. No one actually knows what effect of that is going to be, since it hasnt really been done before.
Look at gold shooting to over 10% higher the international market price in India. I dont think anyone can honestly claim that the meltdown is not affecting them.
What if the government tomorrow decides to de-value the rupee? Or the pound or dollar gets devalued. India's solvency is dependent on foreign reserves.
The coming year might change the fundamentals of the world as we know it. I hope not, I pray that the economy picks up, but if not. I dont want to be caught unprepared.

I believe a national "ballistic fingerprint" database has been mooted & attempted before in at least one country but been abandoned due to it being infeasible...MoA wrote:Warthog: Nope not in the US, nor am I a american. Just a good old proud to be Indian, living in Europe.

You are right. Additionally I dont think criminals will volunteer up their weapons, but then again stranger things have happened.mundaire wrote:I believe a national "ballistic fingerprint" database has been mooted & attempted before in at least one country but been abandoned due to it being infeasible...

Yes there are some shrotages of ammo, primers, powders, bullets et al.ngrewal wrote:In addition folks are also hoarding up on ammo I heard first hand about this from some one on Florida.

A gun without ammo isnt much better than a stick. Expensive by comparison but a stick never the less.
This is even being evidenced in Europe. Certain makes and types of primers have gone up in price, as have powders etc.
