Hello
Dear All,
I'm an active shooter, currently residing the US, but of Indian origin. I'm going to be moving back to India within the next few months, and wish to learn all there is to know about acquiring permits and firearms in India.
Best,
BJL

Re: Hello
Welcome aboard BJL, if you are moving back don't waste the opportunity and make sure to bring back a couple of firearms on TR - one on your name and one on wifeys... if more (adult) family members are coming back as well, you can get back even more... If only the two of you then I'd suggest one centrefire rifle & one handgun.
Cheers!

.. and yes, a desert eagle in .50 would surely get you on the bad books...
An ideal way would be to have an advocate present your case beforehand and ensure all paperwork is ready when you land.. do read thru all the wonderful threads on the forum discussing this topic
.. all the very best...

Re: Hello
Welcome to the forum BJL,
Abhijeet I was given to understand that it was only 1 firearm of permissable Bore for each "family" returning on TR and not every adult member of the family. I have no "proof " regarding this. While submitting the paperwork for claiming TR it is to be declared that no other family member has availed TR and also that you personally have not done so either within the last 3 years. For this pupose I don't even know what constitutes a "family".
I dont know if the rules have changed or I have been misinformed(more likely than not ). But this info was from 2001/2002. I do however know of one situation where a Doctor(Green Card holder) returning with his wife(American Citizen of Indian Origin) had imported two 12 bore shotguns in 2001 and could not clear customs. The Doctors was later cleared first and was allowed, but the wife had to go to court and eventually allowed clearence. This stuff just seemed relevant.
Regards,
Anand

Re: Hello
Woah! By any chance did they mention any specific rule disallowing more than one family member from bringing back a firearm? This is really news to me, let me see if I can google the TR rules...Anand wrote:Welcome to the forum BJL,
