Re: How much 'Suvidha fees' for getting an arms license
Greetings,
I was required to put "rifle" specifically in the application and if its written there with rifle specific bores like .315, 30-06 and .22 LR, max I can manage as a CCW is .22LR revolver or some pistol.
Many thanks for your comments I need to pull my lawyer a bit I suppose.
Do you recommend leaving "rifle" out of my application in that case ? can simply write NPB in cartridge then or is that not allowed ?
Regards

Re: How much 'Suvidha fees' for getting an arms license
It is not required to mention the specific "bore"/ calibre on your application, merely the "class" of arms for which you are applying for an arms license - NPB rifle/ NPB pistol/ NPB Gun (shotgun) etc.eternalme wrote:I was required to put "rifle" specifically in the application and if its written there with rifle specific bores like .315, 30-06 and .22 LR,
Eh? What is this supposed to mean? What else do you expect to be able to carry concealed on your person? A long gun like a rifle or a shotgun?max I can manage as a CCW is .22LR revolver or some pistol.
BTW your location says Newbury, but your queries and IP addresses check out to a North Indian state, please update your location to reflect the City/ State where you are currently residing.
Cheers!

Thank you for your quick response & your PM. The offending member has been issued a week's suspension so that he can sit back and mull over things...eternalme wrote:Dear Abhijeet,

Re: How much 'Suvidha fees' for getting an arms license
Greetings Abhijeet,
That was too prompt of you as well .
Lets see what the mulling over episode yields.
In the mean time I will amend my application to include NPB pistol.
Regards
PS: many thanks for the tip.

Re: How much 'Suvidha fees' for getting an arms license
You are most welcome... BTW write it down as NPB Pistol/ Revolver - while revolvers are pistols too, if you are particularly unlucky you may come across an asinine licensing clerk who refuses to enter a NPB revolver on a NPB pistol license!eternalme wrote:In the mean time I will amend my application to include NPB pistol.

And if you have not already done so, may I suggest you check out the following thread here http://indiansforguns.com/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=504 Should provide you with some useful information...

Re: How much 'Suvidha fees' for getting an arms license
A person can apply for a license for a)crop protection b) self defense c) for sport(target shooting) and d) for display.
In case a person applies for a license for crop protection then he would be issued a license for a muzzle loader or if the licensing authority so feels,a breech loading shotgun.
In case a person applies for a license for self protection then the nature of the applicants job/work,remoteness of his house or a spurt in dacoities in the area can be quoted as reasons for applying for a license.
If applying for a license for sport then membership of a shooting club and certificates of participation/position secured etc help to get you one
Have never seen a license for display.

Many thanks PenPusher,
I think after the Mumbai attacks no one needs to elaborate the requirement for owing a ccw for personal safety, in fact the government is itself considering relaxing the requirements for noble citizens.
The 'noble' part again rests with the baboos to decide .
God bless India.

Enternalme,
In India there is no concept of concealed carry. The arms license itself enables a person to carry the firearm entered on it, to all places except where it is prohibited by the terms of the license itself or due to temporary restrictions.
No one can carry a firearm into a courtroom including policemen or army officers even when in uniform, unless they have been called specifically into the court by the judge and allowed to bring in their service firearms.

Who told you this? ITRs establish that you are tax paying citizen of India and you have an established record of regular tax payment.eternalme wrote:Update :
I am told that income tax return won't do any good, though I thought it would be a significant part of my application as the income tax I pay directly counts towards my contribution in nations wealth.

Looks like the best way for you is for you to directly apply by yourself instead of wasting time because the procedure is a long one any way and you can sort you things as and when they arise
